Stacy McKee on "White Wedding"...

Original Airdate: 5-5-11

The day we filmed Callie and Arizona’s wedding was an amazingly beautiful day.  Beautiful for so many reasons.

First, after a week of forecasters predicting rain rain rain-- the day was sunny. And breezy (which was fine for those of us bundled up under coats and hoodies watching from the side. Not so fine for, say, our cast members dressed in strapless gowns and floaty formal wear.) Still – things were beautiful.

We were shooting outdoors (already a bonus, since usually we’re on stage, in hospital rooms) at Descanso Gardens (if you are ever in the area, you should visit. Largest camellia forest in Southern California!) – There were roses and cherry blossom trees and lilacs everywhere – a feast for the senses.

There were a lot of reporters conducting interviews the day we filmed the ceremony, talking to Sara, Jessica, Chandra (she directed the episode!) – and even me. We were all so aglow with this beautiful setting, with these beautiful brides, with this beautiful wedding –- that it stopped me cold when the first question one of the reporters asked me was:

“So, a lesbian wedding.  Are you worried at all about making such a bold statement?”

I had absolutely no idea how to begin answering that question.

Was I worried? Are you kidding me? NO. I wasn’t worried -- About what?  About a wedding between two characters we’ve watched fall in love over the course of several seasons? Nothing bold about that.  If anything, it’s right out of Romance Storytelling 101 – They meet, they fall in love, they hit a few road blocks, one of them almost dies – all of which makes it so much sweeter when these two characters can finally ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after. Not exactly re-inventing the wheel here, people.  But, I guess, to some people, it is.

So I’ll say to you what I said to that reporter. This is not a bold statement. This is a love story.

Callie and Arizona have been our biggest, most sweeping romance all season.  Our other couples are already married, already divorced, or all full of angst and longing and dirty sex... But Callie and Arizona? They are romance. Sweet, epic, fairy tale romance. Pure and simple.

It just makes sense that after everything they’ve been through this season – living together, breaking up, coming back together, starting a family, life and near death --  their story would culminate in a wedding. A big, beautiful wedding.

The fact that Callie and Arizona are both women is, frankly, irrelevant.

(Although, if you’re like me and you love weddings, then the fact that they are both women is actually a bonus ‘cause  -- hello. Two stunning wedding dresses, people. TWO. WEDDING. DRESSES. Heaven.)

It goes right back to what Bailey says to Callie in the episode. These are two people willing to stand up and commit themselves to one another, forever. In good times and bad. For the rest of their lives.  THAT is the bold statement, legal or not.

Bolder, to me, is the fact that Meredith and Derek actually make their marriage legal.

We’ve also been on a journey with Meredith this season.  She and Derek have tried and tried and tried to start a family. When Meredith broke down in the elevator a couple of episodes ago, Derek reassured her. He promised her that they would have a baby.  Somehow, someday – it would happen.

And today, it has.  Or, at least, they hope it has.  As Derek says, he and Meredith have been trying so hard to start a family – and this baby needs one.  If making their Post-It vows legal will make it easier for them to adopt baby Zola, then they are willing to do what it takes.

(And, by the way, can we just pause for a moment to appreciate how ridiculously ADORABLE Derek looks holding that ridiculously ADORABLE baby? I mean, come on!!!

The thing I love about Meredith and Derek’s wedding, coupled with Callie and Arizona’s wedding, is that the two ceremonies could not be more different. One is all magic and romance. The other is all business and efficiency. And yet, both weddings are absolutely perfect for each of the couples. Beautiful for so many reasons.

But there’s more than just wedding-mania happening in this episode.  There’s Alex, calling Meredith out on compromising the clinical trial.  What’s great about that story is that both Alex AND Meredith are right.

Mer did an ethically questionable thing, but for all the right reasons. We were rooting for her when she did it. She made sure Adele got the drug. She risked everything to help someone she cared about.

And Alex is right, too.  It IS illegal to mess with a clinical trial, no matter how small or insignificant the action might seem.  By altering even one variable in the trial, Meredith has invalidated it.  Which has major consequences, not just for herself, but for Derek, the hospital, even the other patients who are participating in the trial.

Meredith was right. And Alex is right. So whose side should we be on?

Then, there’s Cristina, who continues to be frozen out by Teddy.  –Recently, in preparation for next season, we had a series of surgeons come in to the writers’ room to talk to us about their experiences.  We asked one of them, a very prominent surgeon in his field, what he would have done if his resident went over his head the way Cristina went over Teddy’s head in the musical episode.

Without hesitating, he said: “Oh, she’d be gone. I’d have fired her on the spot.”

So, there are two things I love. One – that Teddy is not vindictive here. She is not being petty; she’s not over-reacting.  She is genuinely concerned about Cristina’s tendency towards reckless behavior – and Teddy is trying to teach Cristina something. She’s trying to teach her caution.

But secondly, Cristina is still Cristina – she’s ridiculously smart, ridiculously talented, and very hard to teach.  Cristina has blinders on. It’s basically impossible for her to see things any way but her own. And from Cristina’s perspective, she was right.  Her repair is what ultimately saved Callie, so Teddy should just accept that, set her bruised ego aside, and quit shutting Cristina out of surgeries.

Again, two characters who – in their own ways – are both right.  Love it.

And finally, I just have to say – there are few things I have ever enjoyed more than the Father/ Daughter dance sequence at the end of this episode. Seeing Callie’s dad come back to dance with her at her wedding.  Seeing Derek swaying back and forth with baby Zola… Maybe it’s from watching my own husband with our little girl, or maybe it’s because my dad was still alive for a dance at my own wedding…  But something about that final sequence gets me every time I watch the episode. And trust me, I’ve watched it a LOT of times by now. I just find it really, really beautiful.

For so many reasons.

Stacy seriously you rock!
I LOVE ALL OF YOUR EPISODES!
Although my favorite episodes that you wrote were "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head," "Elevator Love Letter" and "Golden Hour," this episode was pretty top notch! And what I love more is that you wrote Meredith and Derek's proposal AND their wedding! I loved how you intertwined both of the weddings together. During that entire scene, I had the biggest smile on my face especially when Callie's dad arrived for the father/daughter dance!

I do wish that there could have been more scenes between Callie and her mother but that scene was just enough. It was heartbreaking and so awful for Callie.

And WOW, I LOVED the scene when Arizona tells Mark about her brother and how he would dance hard during her wedding. I think that is one of many of my favorite scenes of Grey's Anatomy!

You guys promised a big storyline for Meredith and wow, it is so awesome! Since the beginning of this trial, back in "Almost Grown," I have been so excited about this clinical trial and was so much more excited when it started in "Don't Deceive Me." I am so excited to see how this things will turn out between Meredith and Alex.

I LOVE APRIL! Making porridge, no doctor would ever do that for a patient but she goes above and beyond and amazes me!

I LOVED when Cristina just unleashes at Teddy during the wedding. This storyline reminds me of when Cristina saved "cement boy's" life back in the episode "Freedom" when she went over Hahn but back then, the Chief had her back. Why isn't the Chief supporting her now? What is Teddy trying to get Cristina to understand?

OH MY GOSH THIS SEASON IS SO INTENSE NOW!

Trew

I hate to say it but it was just ok, and very underwhelming. The Alex-Izzie wedding was way better and I don't even like Izzie. It was a meh episode in so many ways. There was basically no interaction between Arizona and her family, the wedding was rushed, the reception was rushed, Mark seemed to be the "wedding whisperer" because he was there for pretty much every pivotal moment, and again, why? The Bailey speech, while nice, fell flat in some ways because it was like everyone forgot that Callie married George in Vegas.

The fact that Mark, and not Callie or Arizona's mother was the one "there for Arizona" in that speech about her brother was disappointing. JCap was brilliant as usual in that scene. But couldn't we get one scene with Arizona and her mother? Why waste Judith Ivey like that? Why must he be interjected EVERYWHERE? He's at the family dinner sitting at the head of the table like he's the head of the C/A household, he's the only non family member around for the rehearsal, and he's 'saving the day' for Callie and Arizona. Since he sees Callie's and Arizona's parents as "in laws" I guess he was just being a 'perfect husband' taking care of his wives.

Callie and Arizona are two people who on the eve of their wedding should seem like they are MFEO, but they just didn't. The fairy tale magic they had in seasons 5 and 6 is still pretty much absent. Instead of supporting each other when they were both clearly going through their own individual crises like couples do, there was no interaction at all, it's baffling.

I understand Callie's mother's position and her not going to the wedding (seen it in real life 4 times) but I didn't understand her father not going to walk Callie down the aisle. Given what we've seen of Carlos previously and in this episode, that just seemed totally contrived (e.g., to get to some big dramatic moment at the father daughter dance).

Also, are they going to sign domestic partnership papers, it was never mentioned. Plus, everyone was at the wedding, where in the heck was the baby? Where was Callie's sister? Why no mention of her?

The Teddy-Cristina story seems almost silly. It's been 3 months and Teddy still hasn't told Cristina what the problem is? I don't understand why not. How is Cristina going to know what the issue is if no one tells her? Plus, why is the Chief accepting that Teddy refuses to teach Cristina in a teaching hospital?

All my complaining about C/A etc., aside, they all looked beautiful at the wedding (and I did love Bailey officiating despite the contrived way in which she got the job).

I am glad that MerDer are married (although the juxtaposition with the C/A wedding was choppy) and I like the African kids story line so far.

I have to say one of my favorite moments in the entire episode was Derek with the baby and when the baby just smiled. That was the cutest thing. PD is clearly the baby whisperer lol.

I also liked Alex calling Meredith out tonight though. That's some nice foreshadowing there.

Emma

Cristina didn't go over Teddy's head. I also work in a major teaching hospital, and if the Chief of Surgery tells you to do something that goes against what another surgeon does, you go with the Chief. Did your real-life surgeons know that the Chief and the trauma surgeon co-ordinating the case told Cristina to do the procedure??!? I don't think this storyline is realistic or entertaining to watch.

Personally, I find the whole Cristina-Teddy relationship annoying. I was over it last season, and hoped the writers were too. Obviously not. Almost two seasons have passed and we are still there. We, as fans who have watched Cristina grow into the surgeon and woman she is over 7 seasons, will always be on her side.

We can only hope that Season 8 will bring a new and more mature storyline for Cristina and her husband.

Hannah

Thank you for giving us the best McDreamy (McDaddy?) moments ever.
I liked the MerDer wedding, but it`s sad that it is overshadowed by Mer`s secret. It doesn`t feel right at all, it feels like betrayal on Derek. Alex is right. And I really can`t see why her behaviour should be growth. She was a kid, Ellis, Richard and Adele are responsible, not Mer. This is wrong on so many levels.
MerDer together? PD holding a baby? Like s.o. said, pure gold and always amazing.
I didn`t care about the rest. Thank god for the FF button. Again.

Juju

Oh, please tell me that this is the way we can finally get rid of Teddy. Please, don't lead us down this path that we can get her out of here and then break our hearts by telling us she is staying in the finale with her insurance husband. She ranks right up there with Erica Hahn, in terms of unpopularity.

Becca

MerDer! Finally, some MerDer! Although I'm a bit dissapointed that they didn't kiss. It's okay though, because they're legally married and planning to adopt. So I'm happy. This is my week of happiness, because I'm sure by next week something will go wrong for Meredith. But for now I'm going to be happy that they are a real married couple planning to adopt a baby. And that they held hands going in and out of the court, because that was adorable. They could do anything and I would think it's adorable or hot or cute. It's because Ellen and Patrick are just that freaking amazing.

could this ep be anymore boring ???? Done with GA

My Thoughts

Stacy thank you for a wonderful blog. This was a great episode. I really enjoyed it. It had some beautiful scenes. I love Bailey's speech to Callie. It was very moving. I so love Arizona's speech regarding her brother. It was very touching. I even tolerated Mark being their for her. Derek mostly definitely looked very adorable holding baby Zola. I love the MerDer scenes together. I really do believe Teddy needs to go ahead and forgive Cristina. They should understand who she is by know that she is very strong headed, smart and over step her boundaries at times. Teddy keeping her out of surgeries is going to teach her a lesson, maybe or maybe not. She is Cristina Yang, what more can you say. I have to say the wedding was beautiful. Callie and Arizona were so beautiful. The wedding was not about gender, it was about love. Two people who are committing themselves to one another. I love that Papa Torres was there to dance with Callie and Arizona dancing with her father. That was so amazing and beautiful. There were some holes, regarding how did they set everything up so fast in the garden and inform the guest and how did Carlos Torres know where the wedding was. But hey, it is TV and we just have to assume there was time to do everything and it all can not be shown in an hour. Overall, I love this episode, Chandra did a great job in directing and Stacy you did a wonderful job in writing this episode. I give it two thumbs up and a job well done.

Kristan

Wonderful episode! Full of the complexity and nuance that I love in my Grey's relationships. I loved the juxtaposition of the two weddings, and then later the father-daughter dances. I love love LOVED Bailey's speech to Callie. Loved Arizona's minor breakdown. Loved Alex confronting Meredith. Loved Zola. Loved April. LOVED Stark.

My ONLY quibble with this episode was the ridiculousness of Teddy's boyfriend inviting her to Germany. Their limited relationship didn't seem to warrant that, especially when he seemed "just not that into her" before. But whatever. I know tension needs to be added to her relationship with her husband, so I get it. I like all the actors involved; I can forgive. :)

Thanks for such a great episode of Grey's.

Aust

I totally agree with TVFanIAM. The episode was a bit of a letdown. I do admit we have seen a lot of callie and arizona lately but we haven't seen any intimate moment between those two - not even at their wedding for God's sake. Where are the vows, where is the romance? I really like this couple but lately it's getting harder and harder to believe that they actually are a couple. I like Mark but for once please get him out of the picture. He is the baby's dad I get that but that doesn't mean that Callie and Arizona can't do one thing without him being there. Show us a little bit of the honeymoon phase in the upcoming episodes to get us reattached to that couple and to actually show us that they are MFEO. One more thing: why show two weddings at the same time? I do agree that each wedding was perfect for these couples but why did they have to happen simuntaneously. This way fans of MerDer are angry because of the little screen time and fans of Calzona are angry about the little screen time. About 5 min. for a wedding that was hyped the last few weeks is simply not enough.

Miranda

Great episode! It hit too close to home for me, though. My daughter's name is Makenna and she has hydrocephalus. She had a shunt put in at 3 months of age. Of all the story lines and names to put together, you chose the exact pair that made it personal! How could you possibly know??? Amazing.

Kelly

Alex was right. Derek does look so adorable with children. I am glad Meredith and Derek made it official. Arizona looked beautiful. I wish Arizona and Callie could do and have things away from Mark. I have not liked him in awhile and he still has not grown so please do not put Lexie through Mark's crap anymore. She's growing and great with Jackson.

Terry

Yawn...Callie and company are too in my face and boring. I think I must be watching a different show than you because Callie and Arizona is not a big love story sweeping this season. It's a power struggle full of tantrums...and dare I say Boring!! I've never been more sick of a story line since Dead Denny.

Thank you for remembering Mer/Der are a couple with great chemistry when together on screen. Oh how I long for the early seasons when they got more than a few minutes an episode. Of course Shonda and company obviously hate this couple since they built the show but all you can do is crap on this couple.

The show is sucking wind....what a shame!

Suisan

Grey's has "jumped the shark." I can't believe that Derek and Meredith actually went to city hall and married. These are the stars of the series. A lovely wedding on par with the ladies' would have satisfied the romantics among us. Looking forward to the end of the season with hope that both Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey will move on to better things.

4evermerder

In my opinion, Derek should quit his job as a surgeon and spend every episode with Zola in his arms :)

I'm kidding :) Don't get Derek fired because of my comment (in fact don't get anyone fired - *coughMeredithcough*). I still don't understand what's the point of what is Meredith doing... where's the character growth there?

Anyway I should just focus on the good things. Derek/Zola moments were perfect. MerDer making it legal was simple and beautiful (IMO way much better than Calzona over-the-top wedding). The last scene with Derek/Zola father-daughter dance and Mer watching them was adorable! It really felt like one very happy family.

Please, I'm begging you - don't ruin their happiness! This feels like a calm before the storm, like some really big things are coming up for MerDer.
MerDer fighting or something going wrong with Zola/adoption would be heartbreaking at this point.

I'm worried because this feels too good to be true.

Secret_Waters

I absolutely loved the Meredith, Derek and of course the beautiful Zola scenes in last night's episode. It was nice to actually get some decent merder scenes, something that has really been lacking this season!

I hate to get myself attached to this baby because I know merder will most likely not get to keep her, that's how it seems to go for merder. The only ship who seem to get it all in this show is Calzona without having to pay this so called 'bill'.

I'm sensing that it will soon all kick off between Meredith and Derek when it comes out about this clinical trial. I personally can understand why Mer did what she did, it's not like she did it for some random stranger, she did it for people she cares about and Alex's reaction to it all annoyed me. I think what alot of people seem to forget is that Alex too lied about having the money to bring the African children over, begging a dying patient for money isn't exactly ethical, so who is he to judge what Meredith did?!

I am hoping that the last two episodes to this season focus around the true leads of this show; meredith and derek, it's in the spotlight they belong and how can we not love seeing them with a baby, it's what they want and what we the true fans want!

GAfromthePhilippineswithlove

this episode is kinda light for me. not that intense either. but i really like the wedding scene, very neat. also, bailey's speech about God and marriage, so so so right. but why oh why did the twisted sisters get quite untwisted in this episode? cristina and mer should be doing things together! should freak out together! mer shouldve consulted cristina first before getting committed! cristina should pour all her bitterness to mer about teddy's behavior. and please oh please don't allow teddy to go out from the show! what now? the cardio-thoracic position in seattle grace is like the defense against the dark arts in hogwarts? come on, is it jinx or something making the attending after attending disappear? seriously?

Kathy

I have always considered myself a liberal tolerant person but I have decided that the reason I can't stand Callie or Arizona is that the show shoved this story down my throat when it was never believable to begin with. Its not about lesbian's its about them. And about Callie's mother. When have we EVER seen Callie's so-called close relationship with her mother that this would even matter. Callie was living in a basement when she was introduced. So why would this woman's opinion matter NOW.

The only part of this episode worth watching was Patrick Dempsey and once he goes you don't have a show.

Also, so many episodes have been wasted on ridiculous this season and now everything is rushed and makes no sense.

Anne

Dear Stacy, this comment will be long and very polite but also very honest and if you read it, I'm honored. Before I really get started, let me say that I get that it's you guys that made this up and without you, there would be no McDreamy or -Steamy or houses of candles or porny on-call room scenes.

First of all, this episode was the best in a long time, possibly this season... Solely because of Patrick. I get what Shonda meant about baby-magic in some blog post. Seriously, why don't you use him more?
Patrick with Ellen, Patrick with Justin, Patrick with Zola... I see what you did there. You made fans like me who've been dreaming of a baby with the McHair (not that there's anything wrong with adoption!) since Christina mentioned it in season 6's finale so desperate that we accept the cute little stranger-baby instantly.
I still hope we'll get to see Meredith pregnant at some point. The thought alone makes me tear up.

Unlike Callie and Arizona's wedding. Don't get me wrong, I adore Arizona and my heart even broke a little for Callie because of her mother - but to me, Meredith and Derek's formal, no-kiss wedding was so much more romantic - because the chemistry is so right! There's nothing wrong with a lesbian marriage, I'm all for it - they just don't seem very in love, they seem just about as much in love as Callie and Mark. (Can I just say that Arizona and Mark's scene was amazing. I've always waited for them to figure out that they're not that different. Hope they'll figure things out).
Even though I liked the mix of the two weddings, I wish Meredith had been there. It's getting a little odd that MerDer are in this separate universe...

As to the clinical trials - go Jackson! I never thought I'd say it but he and Lexie are actually a great match.
Meredith was wrong. I'm sorry and I really like Adele and all - but even as I watched it, I was thinking 'Meredith, what the hell are you doing?'. I'm scared Derek will leave her. And Shonda promised she would let them stay together forever - but she also said she's breaking all her promises right now. That's a really bad tease. Also, Mer probably ruined her chances of getting Chief Rez., because let's face it, it's going to get out. At least to some people. Then I'd like to remind everyone that Izzie stole a heart, that Burke left a towel inside a woman's stomach AND operated with a shaky hand, which Christina was also in on. None of these things had major consequences for the characters. I hope Mer will get the same treatment though she can't seem to get things easy EVER.
Please, don't make Derek leave her, it will destroy three seasons of progress. Let him be mad. They can deal with mad. Let them have Zola and be a happy family. Krista Vernoff tweeted that the word that defines Merder s7 is 'commitment'. Prove it. Pretty please.

Some others have mentioned that there are too many unconnected story lines - I agree:

April/Stark - it has grown on me, but they need to interact with others or it'll die out.

Alex/Meredith/Derek - as much as Mer/Alex always has been my favorite friend-couple, let's get Christina and Meredith back to the friendship they haven't had for way too long?

Teddy/Christina/Owen - it's been what, two years of Teddy, and still she doesn't seem to be able to interact with other people than her old friend and his wife - and Arizona when Arizona needs someone to speak her thoughts out to, so we get to hear them, too, from time to time.

Jackson/Lexie/Chief - cute but not very significant. Also, Mark's just cool with it, or?

Callie/Arizona/Mark/Sofia - just let it fade out, get some funny Mark/Derek scenes, let them have happily ever after...

Love,
Anne

Been

Well, I do care about Teddy! And I think I'll thank that psych-guy for pushing her to see that she doesn't want to leave town... because of Henry. Or he'll get confused because of her marriage- either way, I'm the first on the Tendry-Team.

Alex and Mer both right? I don't think so and I didnt root for her fraud. Alex is right, the other person has got as much right for the medicine as Adele. That she doesnt know that person, doesnt allow Meredith to play God and give the active agent to Mrs. Webber.

Kiki

Let me start by saying that I love Critina. I love her snarky comments, her inability to resist Owen and her smarts. I also love when her character is growing and learning. What I'm sick of is the same old storyline for Cristina - rogue surgeon, no surgery, personal versus professional. We get it! It's making her character pretty one-dimensional. What happened to the Cristina that was learing to love and be compassionate?

I totally get Teddy's point. Maybe if Teddy wasn't such a b*tch, I may agree with her a bit, but not letting someone learn for three months, that seems a bit extreme. And Teddy, who famously exclaimed, "I want Owen!", doesn't seem the pillar of professional behavior.

Lastly, I want to thank you guys for not making adoption easy. It's a long and arduous process that rakes you over the coals emotionally and mentally. It's also a process that's so worth it. It's nice to see something realistic.

i miss burke

Please bring Burke back
Cristina was absolutely right. Loved that she stood up to Teddy.
As for Zola, I think I'm in love with her.... cutest baby ever

me

Some points to highlight:

- Callie & Arizona are not acting like an MFEO couple at all! Where is the passion, the supportive, the affection ?

-Loved the way Az told Callie ILY after the ring ... no so much the way Callie told Az, a little cold for me ...

-Very nice the hand Az put on Callie after her father leave ... amazingly, the only and very little supportive moment between them ...

- Jcap & SaRa are two amazing actresses: the Callie&Mother scene was so moving ... and what to say about Arizona's brother speech? Jessica Capshaw is so talented !!! I love her speeches, the bests of the show !!!

-Loved the way Az looks when Callie was saying her part of their vows ... she was so emotioned ... again the way JCap makes AZ feelings transcend the screen is perfect!!

A lifelong fan

A few comments:

I really hope the dvd will give viewers some deleted scenes that will help fill the obvious gaps in this episodes.

The episode feels rushed. I am not even a MerDer fan, but while I can understand Derek bonding w the baby that he has been working on, how can he expect Meredith to let go of the dream of a biodaby and decide to adopt a baby she has never met, all in one day. Too rushed. too fast. Please invest in more story development

As a big fan of Mark/Callie friendship, I too wanted him to make up for what he said to Az in the hospital. But I don't think Az should had made the speech ab her brother to Mark. Where was her mom, her fiancee? Take the time to tell the story. I get that Mark wants to make up and make that day perfect for Callie but don't rush it. Az and Mark are not friends... yet

Where is the love between Callie and Az? Only one dialogue between them in this whole episode. No conversation to discuss her mom's reaction, their fathers' reaction to Mark or anything...

3 months in the hospital and no mention of the fact that they have a preemie in the house. Callie is back to normal?

Why is no one else holding the baby? Though we've seen Mrs Robbins gushing over Sofia, it would have been nice to have her actually hold her

What the heck is Owen doing? Can he support his wife and at least give her a clue? He knows how important all this is to Christina. He knows that Christina didn't just get "lucky" that she is that talented. As much as I dislike this pairing, I am assuming that you writers like it. Then if you do, please write Owen as a supportive husband for once

I really liked Mark in this episode. I think he's trying. It would be great and he is on board next season to help Az get legal rights to Sofia too

Please at least mention whether or not Calzona did something legal as in get a certificate also

And finally please give viewers a real kiss from the newly married couple

Celia from New York

There was no magic or "love" story for me between Callie and Arizona. I see more love and more affection between Mark and Callie. sorry, I can't buy it. BUT the real love story always had been and still is between Meredith and Derek and how their TRUE love has grown and now becoming parents is the topping! Derek holding the most adorable Zola...there are no words! Patrick Dempsey has always created magic in the show and frankly, not given enough screen time between him and Meredith...come on people, that is where Grey's started and has grown...that is where the real magic and love story is.

As for Christina, and I do love her, she really does need to show more compassion and less ego. She has always been only about the surgeries and not enough for the patient and being a real doctor and knowing her place. But she should not be "punished" for knowing more than Teddy in that particular surgery, and Teddy although trying to teach Christina, really doesn't know Christina or how to handle her. Teddy needs to go to Germany and OFF THE SHOW!

The magic and true love story tonight was Meredith and Derek making their "post it" marriage right and adopting baby Zola. That is the love story. I don't care about the beautiful wedding dresses...it's not the wedding that makes a marriage, it's what is inside the relationship and how you grow.
