Pete Nowalk on "All By Myself"...
Original Airdate: 12-4-08
So you watch this TV show for a few seasons. You really enjoy it. Admire it. Learn from it. You even read the writers’ blog every once in awhile – just to see what these writer people are actually like. Wondering what it’s like to be them. Dreaming about being them… And then it happens. You’re now sitting in a room with these people. These talented, hard-working, funny writers who you quickly realize you have no business being around.
This happened to me. And I freaked out. Big time. Going to work everyday was an exercise in panic. Nausea, nightmares, shaky voice…symptoms of what’s commonly referred to as an all out, no-doubt-about-it, yikes-is-he-sweating, better-start-looking-for-a-new-career, you-don’t-need-to-be-a-doctor-to-diagnose-it FREAK OUT.
Which is all to say I get Alex in this episode. (Okay, okay, so I know writing an episode of television isn’t really comparable to what it must feel like to operate on someone all by yourself, but that’s why I’m happy to be a writer and not, say, a second year surgical resident. I freak out easily.) It’s kind of a big deal, performing your first solo surgery. One of two things could happen – your patient lives or your patient dies. And since this surgery is a very simple, very easy below-the-knee amputation, a dead patient means you killed them. No wonder Alex freaked out.
Alex is one of those characters who’s still a little mysterious. He likes sex, yeah. He has a sick sense of humor, sure. He’s a pretty rotten communicator, no duh. But now we know he loves Izzie. Loooooves her. Which he finally told her off the thrill of winning the solo surgery. Alex needed this win. This is the dude that failed his boards and froze during the heart surgery in the elevator. Winning the solo – and having Cristina of all people pick him – finally allowed Alex to believe in himself. And with that came believing in himself with Izzie. Who makes him better. Who gives him the warm and cozies inside. Who is still. Seeing. Denny.
Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Or I don’t. But what I do know is that it’s confusing. Alex loves Izzie. He’s been good to her. SO WTF IS THAT GIRL THINKING? She’s not thinking. That’s the point. Because when we think we tend to screw things up. We over-think. Or under-think. Or just think about thinking. And it’s exhausting. To the point where it’s easier to just shut your mind off sometimes, to just go with the flow. So that’s what Izzie is doing. She’s throwing caution to the wind. She’s letting it ride. She’s saying F&$# IT! And I don’t blame her. Who knows how long Denny will be here, or when Alex will confront her about the bizarro behavior, or what – if anything – there is to learn from Denny while he’s here. So like Izzie, I’m choosing to say F%$# it. Go on, try it. Shout it. Scream it to the rafters. F&%$^&^*^**&*#### IT!!!!!!!!! Feels good, right?
Now for the people still reading (Don’t give up on me yet. I know I’m new. I’ll try to curse less…) I have one word for you. Hi. A simple word, yup, but loaded with meaning when you haven’t said it for 5 years. Sometimes when we research these medical stories I can’t believe what we find out about the world. How many scary medical conditions there are. How wrong things can go. It makes you wonder how the hell any of us are still walking around living. Which is why it’s a kind of miracle that, sometimes, there’s a surgery to make life better. Mark Sloan gave this woman back her voice. Pretty damn cool. Also cool is Lexie working so hard to get this very stubborn, very scared woman to speak. Lexie was doing it for the husband, yes, but also for Mark. She knew how much this surgery meant to him. He’s not all boob jobs all the time after all (yes, that’s directed at you Dr. Bailey). So you can imagine how psyched Lexie must have been to tell Mark that the surgery worked. And, oh yeah, ask him to teach her. Teach her what?? Um…
I don’t know about you but that moment right before Mark gave in – when he was trying with all his might to not do the thing he knew he shouldn’t do but oh-so-wanted to do – was a pretty great window into the kinder, gentler McSteamy. Mark was trying to be good, for Derek and for himself, but he’s also human. And he’s Mark. And Lexie was there. All vulnerable. All beautiful. All HALF NAKED. Hell, even I wouldn’t be able to deny her in that moment (and I bat for the other team). As long as Meredith and Derek don’t find out about these two.
I guess Meredith’s got her hands full worrying about Cristina anyway though. She hoped their fight from the last episode would blow over. Two weeks of civil-yet-heated interactions and all would be fine. Not quite. Not even when she tried to apologize in the gallery. Because Meredith said the one thing that set Cristina off. She said, “I know why you made it personal.” And that’s all it took for Cristina to blow. Cristina who had been working SO HARD all day to keep it together – to hear out each of her fellow residents as they described why they deserved the solo even though she herself had truly won it. All the Attendings picked her. Every single one. Even Derek (who smartly told Mer it was because he didn’t want it to look like he was playing favorites. And Mer was fine with it. Let’s hear it for relationship maturity!). So Cristina blew. She had to. No one can keep their feelings bottled up forever. Thank god Owen was there to show her his secret place…
Ew, not that secret place. THE VENT PEOPLE. The cold, dank, dirty-in-a-good-way vent. My one regret from my time on the set is that I didn’t get to take a test-spin on that puppy. Cause the vent is real, folks. You can’t CGI hair-blowing like that. And it apparently makes you want to kiss people. Owen has so many tricks up his sleeve. It’s kinda hot. And Cristina needed that vent. Especially after the day which included working with Dr. Dixon. Dr. Dixon who sees the world in her own very unique way. Sure, it might have seemed insensitive how she kept pressing this family to donate their daughter’s organs. But it also didn’t make sense to her. Embrace the science, leave feelings out of it – that’s what she told Cristina. Donating the organs would save lives. So why let feelings get in the way? Cristina understood this, and it’s exactly what allowed her to pick Alex for the solo.
Let’s move on to something a little less girl-in-a-coma depressing and more girl-in-a-sexual-awakening fun. Callie’s like a teenager right now. Confused, awkward, horny. And she’s trying to figure out her new, liking-girls life. Cause girls are different than boys. They flirt in a different way. In a way that might not even be flirting. Like Sadie. Who is quite a flirty gal. But is she flirty with everyone? Is that just her nature? Or is she actually flirting with Callie? Or does she just need a new friend because everyone in the hospital thinks she’s flat out CRAZY? Sadie’s got some stuff going on in that flirty little head of hers. Now if only Callie could figure it out. Or figure herself out. Maybe she should take a page from Izzie and say, “F&#@ IT!” After all it worked for Alex. It’s what allowed him to make his first cut on the leg amputation dude. And since we know he’s going to rock the hell out of the rest of that surgery, it doesn’t seem like the worst idea out there. So try it. Do something that totally freaks you out today. I will too. First up, posting this blog...

I looooooooove Mark and Lexie. I can continue to watch Grey's now. Owen and Christina are cute. Alex loves her, she needs to stop seeing Denny NOW.

I am sooooooooooooooo in LOVE with Mark and Lexie! They are so freaking fantastic together! Pure Magic is what they are. Love their chemistry and the way they look at eachother. They would make a very beautiful couple.
I also liked Sadie in this episode. I think she would be great with Callie. I also liked Sadie talking to Lexie. They could be good friends if you dont keep Sadie so crazy.
I cant say enough how much I love Mark and Lexie.
You did such a good job with this episode. The writing was really good. Loved everything about it.

To the people who say M/L are gross. Excuse me, why? There's not that much of a gap between them and clearly there's chemistry and and understanding. Some of us, yes, quite a significant amount of us are totally digging this ship, so keep it coming, tonight's ep was perfect. Can't wait to see the fallout with MerDer! I believe M/L could really be something <3

sigh
my DVR tuner crapped out on me and i lost the first two minutes of the show - including the opening voiceover
sigh
Izzie's even more nuts than last week, Denny's still not gone, and we probably have to wait till January to find out what's up.
sigh
Mark fell off the wagon with Lexie (not the girl who sleeps around. no, not her. the only guy she hasn't loved or had sex with is Derek, oh, and the new Attending)
sigh,
Alex finally gets it right, righter than Callie did when she said it too soon, and Izzie is a nutcase.
and sigh
Another guy who's a big big fan of Grey's and of course he bats for the other team
Don't *any* straight guys love this show?
oh right, it has a resident who has sex with a ghost. never mind.
Derek seemed depressed. Wonder what I missed in the open.
Bailey was interesting.
Cristina apparently hasn't had sex with an attending in the hospital (again) yet.
I love Meredith. Once upon a time you all made me hate George.
Please don't make me hate Lexie too?
I notce new Cardio doc was rocking a bit this time. Good. My friend does that too. I miss him (he's still in Boston)
Welcome to the show. Good blog. (but really, isn't there one straight guy with a romantic soul? Us straight girls gotta have some hope, you know?)
it's 2:46 am and i still haven't seen the open.
I'm giving up and going to bed.
Whenever you all are back, I will be too.
Just please make Denny go away. Okay?
feeling very unfinished without my opening Mer voice over

AARGH enough when will you finally let George find love. First you end my beloved Gizzie, my OTP, and they will be my OTP for life. But you know I was willing to accept him and Lexie, they were so sweet and cute, but now you ruin that too.
It is not fair. George is beautiful in every way and he deserves to have love that lasts.
You give him some happiness NOW!

I love the show, but there are just way too many characters, ones who should just be extras perhaps, who are instead taking screen time from the ones the show has built up interest for the past 4+ years.
I'm not concerned with lack of MerDer time; I'm just relieved that all the drama is over with there. But, this whole Denny bit is a bit much. Just let Izzy move on......enough already.
Tonight's show was okay. It's easier to picture Sloan and Little Grey than it is to see Lexie and George as a pair. Heck, the docs at this hospital are all about saving lives and having sex, right?
(j/k...kind of)
I love the show; it's a good escape. Just please remember why the fans choose to tune in each week. Thanks.

This episode was a perfect ten!
Wow, Mark/Lexie were hot! I hope they actually have a relationship. I think they fit each other really well. Owen/Chris too..
So glad George/Lexie are over - they never interested me together.
Loved the 2 sisters storyline. Loved everyone going up to Christina. I liked the Sadie/Callie scenes too..I could already feel the attraction between them.
Posted by: Raya | December 04, 2008 at 11:56 PM
PS - I really love Alex/Izzie so now that Alex has stopped screwing with them, could you get Shonda to stop, too?
thanks
(and yes "that's one of us down there" - loved that. apparently not "the first one of us" anymore, though?)

The Alex moments in this episode were the only redeeming parts of it in my opinion.
To Ruin The moment Alex/Izzie fans have been waiting for to taint it with Denny interupting Alex's I love you to Izzie.Alex's speech was amazing and long overdue and what do we get after that?We get Izzie saying that sex with a DEAD guy is amazing. So insulting to us Alex/Izzie fans.
Enough it enough Denny go away and soon so we can actually get on with a good quality show not a show trying to be a Sub-Par
Supernatural and failing miserably.Maybe It's time for the Writers and honchos to go and watch Seasons 1 and 2 and see what made Grey's a superb show,To me that is the relationships between to five core characters not this superinflated cast that barely has enough time for what people are really interested in.I mean really?! I was actually shocked to see George speak this episode and WOW Alex finally got somewhat of a storyline for once. Those are the few few pluses of this episode.
I can't believe that The Denny storyline is going to go through Febuary What a waste of screentime that could be devoted to delving further in to one of your best couples on the show Alex/Izzie but gee what do we get More dead Denny.I'm honestly getting over my disappointment with this show because now it's what i'm coming to expect from it.
Posted by: Justine | December 05, 2008 at 12:08 AM
"Who knows how long Denny will be here"?
Now it's my turn to say WTF? I hate the ghost story line. It's stupid. It was okay when Mer talked to Denny because she was actually dead. I think it's retarded that you are making Izzie all crazy again. She was crazy enough 2 yrs ago. Get rid of Denny. It's sooooo annoying and so soap opera. I hate it.
Love everything else about the show.

It's killing me seeing Alex all happy and in love with Izzie when she's still doing Denny. C'mon writers (Shonda), please wrap up the Denny storyline! Alex's declaration to Izzie was absolutely beautiful and I really felt how genuine and deep it really was and then flash to naked Denny saying how much he isn't liking Alex. Seriously, you guys killed what could have been a PERFECT Alex/Izzie moment with Denny which is why I've been hating the triangle. Alex saying 'I love you' to someone is a huge step for someone like him. The moment was so important and Denny/Dizzie ruined it. Please send Denny packing ASAP and Izzie's head fixed. Other than that, I loved every scene with Alex. He's grown so much as a doctor and I think he really deserved the surgery and needed that confidence so I'm very happy that Cristina put her feelings aside and chose who she thought was best prepared. I adored the Meredith/Alex moment. I've missed these two sharing scenes so much and it really says a lot that Alex paged Meredith when he was freaking out about Izzie and the surgery. It was great how Meredith tried to calm him down and give him the pep talk. Alex is my favorite character on this show and this episode clearly shows why. Justin Chambers has done such a great job with his character and tonight was another shining example of just how talented he is.
Mark and Lexie was sort of gross. I mean, "teach me". WTF? It also doesn't help that they've been called Little Grey and Big Sloan with Lexie acting like a 10 year old many times. It feels like Sloan is getting it on with a minor and that's just icky.
Felt bad for Cristina to have been put in the position of having to choose who gets the solo surgery but I think she did a good job in how she handled things. I really liked her scenes with Owen also.
It was a good episode but it could've been great without Denny around and Izzie gushing about the hot sex she's been having with Denny (actually with herself). The Denny storyline was a bad, bad way to go when there is so much that could be done with Izzie and Alex/Izzie.

Hey Pete! Let me start off by saying congrats on your first episode. That being said I think half of this episode went really, really well and the other stuff.. well I don't really know what happened.
Okay, to start off, (and I'm going to try to refrain from ranting because on some level I did LOVE this episode) and this could be because this was your first episode, but I felt like characters were kind of.. hmm, out of character a little bit. Ok, let's start with Meredith. (Cough.. shouldn't she be the main character with the most screen time??) I love Meredith. I relate to her, I get her, she's just.. I love Meredith. And I thought the way she behaved with her patients was perfect. But the way she talked to Cristina.. eh, she's not cocky. Meredith is confident not cocky. And she's not self absorbed and it seemed like in the episode she was being it which honestly, pisses me off a little bit because I sometimes feel like this show just likes to torture Mer with a stick.. anyway, I can get over that because the way she behaved with her patient was.. bravo. But her consistantly telling Cristina, 'I know you're going to pick me,' or 'We're fighting so that's why you didn't pick me'. No. Meredith would man up. She'd get this is a tough spot for Cristina to be in, she'd tell her 'do what you have to do' but not procede to constantly tell her how she deserves this and how she has to pick her. That's just not.. Meredith. Like I said, she was awesome at other times. Like when she told her patient that no matter what she said her sister did love her, because isn't that the truth? The thing I LOVED about this scene was that what she's saying could relate to many different things. Like a) Cristina and Meredith. Yeah Cristina didn't pick her but Mer knows she still thinks she's kickass. Or in Cristina's head, Meredith didn't stick up for her but she knows Mer still loves her. Now b) could certainly be Ellis and Meredith related. Yeah you could look at it from the simple angle, Ellis died and Mer knows on a certain level she loved Mer, or you could be more complex and think outside the box: When Meredith went to high heaven during her NDE Ellis appeared and told her she was 'anything but ordinary'. See, Ellis did love Meredith even though she didn't always treat her well. Ok, c) is my favorite: Derek and Meredith. Yeah because think about it; Meredith tells her patient even though they fought, even though this ended so abrubtly and you yelled and she yelled and crap basically happened, she knows you love her, and she loves you. Remember third season? Before Mer's NDE things with her and Derek weren't going so well because she was depressed. And then she drowned and Derek was devastated and at first blamed himself but he knows she loves him, and he knows she knows he loves her. So in my head as Meredith's telling her patient 'she loves you' I was thinking, "Oh Mer, go tell Derek you love him", because in my head I'm thinking Meredith is thinking c). She's thinking back to when she almost died and how poorly she treated Derek and what would've happened if she did die. So that was a beautiful scene. Then Mer goes into hallway and runs into Derek and it totally felt like she was going to say she loved him but then didn't. Writer's, fans desperately want more Meredith and Derek time. Seriously. They're the most loved couple on this show and the main characters... ok continuing on. So Cristina. Yeah I, at times, couldn't locate her character either. First of all, and Pete this isn't your fault- you didn't write last episode, but I hate how Cristina got mad at Meredith. Not making it personal? Are you kidding me? Yeah I get that that's the thing Cristina was trying to avoid during the entire episode but that's why Cris is mad at Mer right? Cris is being hypocritical here. She needs to teach and stop blaming everyone else.
Moving on... Alex and Izzie. Gosh I love Alex. And I thought Izzie was in character except.. I've had enough of Denny. And I know there's a reason she's seeing him and it makes sense and all that but I love, extremely love Alex so it broke my heart when he told her he loves her, because she was certainly not ready to here those words leave his mouth.
Ugh, I'm sick of George. He get's points for wanting to help Izzie but he doesn't have a storyline so, yeah..
Lexie and Mark.. AMAZINGNESS. I'm serious, I love them. Yeah he's older and wiser but I love them. I especially am loving Mark lately. Deep down, I believe he's a good guy. This storyline will be interesting when Mer and Der find out. Oh, and I wonder how George will react! Haha.
Cristina and Owen.. I really loved Owen this episode.. they were wonderful together. It's just.. please include a Meredith and Derek kissing scene. Ugh, we need more of them. I'm telling you Pete talk to Shonda. If you give us more MerDer I guarentee more viewers and more happiness!
I'll write more later,
Maddie

They're pure chemistry

Oh my godness!
I love Mark & Lexie. That last scene was...hottt and so romantic!
Please, keep them together!!

I am in the minority here. But I LOVE the Denny/Izzie story. Imagine thinking you can still see your soul mate after his death. How mixed up would that make you feel?
You know it can't possibly be happening but you also keep holding on to every little bit of him you can.
GREAT STORY.

I really don't understand people who say that Mark and Lexie are bad idea.C'mon people!Mark finally has chance to have a real girlfriend, not just a sex thing with girl.On the other way,it is obvious in last 2/3 episodes that Lexie is losing her feelings for George.Mark noticed her way before George(GEorge still hasn't).So,writers, don't ruin Mark/Lexie relationship. It is a great storyline!
Posted by: nina | December 05, 2008 at 01:01 AM
LOVED MARK & LEXIE. Writers, they have many fans. I'm talking about a huge fanbase. Everyone wants them to become a couple. Please continue to go forward with these two together. :)

watching tonight was like watching a friend die. George, Alex, and Yang/Mer were all worth watching. Derek would be too if he had a freaking scene.
dont just reference season 1, write as imaginatively as season 1
hate dixon
hate denny/izzie
not a fan of mark/lexie
not a fan of bailey except for the opening
not crazy bout owen
Posted by: Pete | December 05, 2008 at 01:05 AM
I'm hoping that Denny is there as a sort of coping mechanism for Izzie, and once she makes some grand revelation about his death or her life or something, he'll go away... because right now, it's kind of ruining the great person Denny was back in season 2... cause now he's kind of a jerk. I liked that Izzie showed up for Alex though.
I LOVED the Bailey/Sloan scene, where she gushes about the work he was doing, and you could see how much it meant to him. It shows how far he has come, and how far their relationship has come, since he arrived at SGH and treated her like trash.
Yang and Hunt. Wow.
Just wow.
He's so ruggedly charming. Like, it's so pure and unedited. He just has the rawest form of compassion.
Meredith and Derek... now, I am sad just like the rest of you that they're getting less airtime, but it's already been guaranteed that they're together for good, so we don't need merder sex scenes 24/7; it's time to develop the OTHER characters too!
Great job you guys

Okay, so... I loved Denny Duquette.
Before he died.
He needs to be put back to rest. Seriously.
Don't take me wrong, Pete - I thought you had a GREAT episode. Seriously!
But the Denny thing is really starting to rub me the wrong way. Izzie and Alex have come SO far to get to where they are - to this point in time where ALEX, the jerk who cheated on Izzie, the arrogant cocky bastard who is mean to George, has confessed his LOVE for Izz. That's some heavy duty stuff... and I felt like they were smothered by the presence of Denny. And as I can tell from the previous comments - you get the idea that us viewers are not too happy with the resurrection of Denny Duquette. We loved him. PAST TENSE. HE DIED 3 SEASONS AGO.
But moving on to things that I ADORED about this episode, like Owen and Cristina. They have SUCH great chemistry, I can't keep my eyes off them. That kissing vent moment? So damn hot. I think I love Owen. It's about time that someone came along for Cristina. :)
I was SO happy to see some life put back into George. It was nice to know that George is still the one that knows Izzie best.
Lexie and Mark. Seriously. I don't know whose moment was hotter, theirs or Owen + Cristina's. It's a draw. Seriously.
People are complaining about the lack of MerDer - but honestly, it doesn't bother me much. I think it's a nice hiatus from the MerDer drama overload we've been swimming through since season 1. The shift of focus on other couples, other people's stories- is a much welcome change.
I love this show. I always have, and I am sure that I always will. But please, handle the Denny situation soon! I don't want to tarnish my memory of him... Which has actually already begun.
Peace.

I love Cristina and Alex, always have, always will, they are the most interesting caracters of the show
Love Cristina and Owen they were the only good thing, along with Alex gettin the solo surgery and when he Said Izzie all those beatiful loving things (JC ROCKS!) I couldn't help but feel the moment tainted because of Stupid Denny and his stupid jokes, Are we supposed to like Casper? because he is just plain annoying, he ruines every scene he is in, he ruined my Izzie/Alex love,
Posted by: Me | December 05, 2008 at 01:50 AM
So we are already on episode 10 and we are STILL WAITING for some decent Mer/Der storyline... frankly I don't understand, why?? Is it because you don't know how to write them anymore? is Dempsey the pain in the as* Ausiello and Kristin talk about?
We have been patient, but this is it, your false advertising promo is not going to make it this time, I know we will only get 2 seconds of screentime with them, why bother?.
Posted by: Stillwaitingformerder | December 05, 2008 at 02:06 AM
Great, great, great episode! That moment when Alex was starting his solo surgery,Mark and Lexie were having sex,Owen and Christina were kissing was just...PERFECT!All the hopes, the fears, the passion, all on the edge were we all find ourselves dying to see the next episode. Bailey...she was so cute getting excited at new things. nd Mark:how sweet is the tortured man behind those eyes, who can't resist, true, but who really knows who's the man behind those eyes?Maybe Lexie can get there... And Alex...I really don't care if dead guy is still there, and if Izzie is not totally with him....what he told her brought tears to my eyes! The sweetest, messy declaration I've ever heard!I loved also how Mer shut everyone up like in the first episode, and how she supported Alex...I liked Christina's awkward struggle and I liked her choice...I want more doc.Dixon because I think she's got so much more to tell us...and I really wanna see what's next!for everyone. Thank you mr.Nowalk, you did a great job!Congratulations from Italy ;)

I NEED MORE CRISTOWEN! I suffered two weeks of waiting (darn you thanksgiving!) only to get a teensy-weensy bit of cristowen?! NOOO I NEED MORE! The amount of Cristowen that I got from this episode isn't even enough to stave off my withdrawal symptoms! More darn you more!
That said, I cannot believe you people gave so much screen time to dead denny and Izzie. They are literally driving me insane. PLEASE SOMEONE CALL AN EXORCIST! This denny storyline has evolved from a morbid "jump-the-shark" curiosity into a form of cruel and unusual punishment. Seriously, is Shondra punishing the audience for some kind of unknown transgression? WHY is she making us watch this insane dead denny storyline!? And more importantly, why is she letting dead denny take screen time away from Owen Hunt?! I want to see his character get more development!!
Speaking of Owen Hunt, I find it sad and ironic that the ONLY person who bothered to go after Cristina was him. None of Cristina's "friends" could be bothered to even PRETEND to be concerned. The "new guy" was the only one who had enough humanity in him to give a care about others. I LOVE that Cristina has Owen now. He's really the only one who can comfort her and take care of her. And I LOOOOOOVE that he was considerate enough to usher Cristina to his "secret place" so that no one will see her vulnerable. (I absolutely LOVE that Owen explores the hospital!!! I hope he'll be able to show Cristina around some more. The girl has tunnel vision when it comes to work.) What a great guy he is! It's so sweet that Cristina doesn't seem to mind letting him see her emotional. Him and Cristina are the perfect couple because they can heal each other's emotional wounds. (They've already managed to patch each other's physical wounds up. Now all that's left is the emotional wounds.) I can't wait until they become a REAL couple. (THEY BETTER BECOME A REAL COUPLE or there's no point in my watching GA anymore.)
I want Meridith and Cristina to resume their BFF relationship but I'm kind of annoyed that Meridith made Cris' decision personal. Everyone knows that Cristina is the sort of person who separates work from personal feelings so how can Mer, her BF, not know this?
I'm no huge fan of Dr. Dixon but KUDOS TO HER for making the Chief admit that he's torturing Cristina. Honestly, what is wrong with that man?! You have an amazingly talented and driven doctor in your hospital. And instead of nurturing her rare talent, he goes out of his way to make her miserable! It makes NO SENSE!!! Did cristina accidentally run over his dog or something?! Or is this the Chief's roundabout and twisted way of "helping" cristina grow as a doctor? I hope the Chief isn't turning into yet another Dr. Hahn, ie someone with an irrational hatred for Cristina.
Seriously, Cristina just can't get a break. Whatever happened to meritocracy?! It's like the Chief is playing a cruel game of "keep away" with Cristina. (Ohhh look at how badly Cristina wants the surgery! Let's give it to someone else so Cristina will have a harder time becoming the CARDIO GODDESS SHE IS MEANT TO BE!) I swear, Cristina needs to get scouted by another hospital BECAUSE SHE DESERVES BETTER!
I still hate Sadie (Because she has psychopathic tendencies)...however...she is SLIGHTLY redeemed in my eyes because she confessed that the stupid appendix surgery is all her fault, rather than Cristina's. Honestly, she and the rest of the interns are a bunch of the most incompetent morons I've ever seen. I've met freshmen science students with more common sense.
ps
Poor Alex. Now that he's finally learned to act like a real man, his GF has gone insane. What IS with him and crazy GFs?!

NO NO NO. I do NOT like Callie and Sadie. Don't go there. Don't do it. Callie was all about the person, she cared about Hahn. She didn't care about the gender, it was the person. Now you have Callie going girl crazy. It just doesn't seem right. NO NO NO.
YES! To Cristina and Owen. Those 2 are intense.
YES! To Alex having a role on this show. I love Alex. However, I think he is about to be majorly hurt. Izzie is severely messed up.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give us more MerDer time. They are the reason I watch the show.
