The Blog Between The Blogs:

I know, I know.  I said that I would say more.  Blog more. Tell you more stuff about the finale.  But a couple of things are going on.  Things I have to do before I can sit down and write properly.

One:  Private Practice begins shooting this week and I’ve got to make sure Addison is all taken care of.

Two:  The NATIONAL SPELLING BEE is this week!  NATIONAL!  SPELLING!  BEE!  Channel your inner speller or your non-inner speller and check it out on ESPN on Friday.  Why is this keeping me from talking to you about Izzie and Alex?  Because every year, I head over to my favorite website: http://throwingthings.blogspot.com/.  I head over there and I blog about the Bee.

Minute by minute.

Now, if you don’t know what is super fun and crazy awesome about watching kids spell words, you have never seen the Scripps National Spelling Bee.  It rocks.  It rocks hard.

I’m not kidding.

I’m seriously not kidding.

The Bee rocks and I’m not saying that because it is on ESPN and ABC.  I’ve been a fan of the Bee for many years and this year, I’ll be at http://throwingthings.blogspot.com/ doing my best to write interesting commentary on the Bee along with the super smart and funny other bloggers over there.  Join us.

Come on…you know you want to…

And I’ll be back on Saturday to talk about the kissing.  When the Spelling Bee is over…

Comments

So, I am sure you will not read this, but I was curious as to what else meredith was going to say to derek when he kissed her, she started to say, "I want to be . . . " and then he kissed her . . .did you have anything in mind that she was going to say after that?

also, i am a little sad, maybe you can start it off right from where it left, so we can get some oh so beautiful merder loving, because you KNOW that was a good "more than kissing: they did when he came back. alas, i am sure it is already written, so, a girl can dream though right?

Hi Shonda,

Congratulations on the beautiful season finale. That moving sequence scored with the song The Quest is unbelievably gorgeous. You rock babe! And you say you have no musical taste...:-)

Some of your blog posts on the BEE last year are hilarious and touching. I checked it out because well...

I too was a spelling Bee geek as a child and I also had a weird simultaneously cerebral/emotional cathartic reaction to a scene in Akeelah and the Bee when I first saw it.

Allison

I am a constant fan of the story and think you have done a fabulous job creating it. I do hope that you will return the original personalities of Izzie, Lexie and George. Since the show as returned they act as if they were teens on a party. I would not want to be in their care now.

I just want to commet...who ever chose the music for the "the kiss" scene is oh my god the best!!! I mean you got to have music to really capture the moment and to whom it may concern...YOU ROCK!!!!

thanks Shonda for letting us know!

Please Shonda Hurry back! I have watched the finale so many times i lost count since thur. I need more to go on....callie and Erica--
Please :)

Shonda, don't be the surgeon who promises life and then fails to deliver. AKA- don't promise us a blog and then not post one. Please. I get my hopes up, only to be crushed by the lack of post-episode reflections. Thanks.

saturday can't come soon enough! fall can't come soon enough!
Thank you Shonda for THE KISS!!!!

Thanks for blogging more! Cannot wait for the real continued blog.

I love that you love the Bee (me too) - looking forward to the blogs :)

BTW if you haven't already seen it check out the doc Spellbound.

I totally am a closet fan of the spelling bee. Not that I can spell at all. Totally hated spelling all the way through high school!! I make my kids sit down and watch it every year!!

Thanks so much for an awesome show!! I am addicted and can't wait until my birthday (it's mid sept.) and most shows start around my birthday!! So thanks for the birthday present.

Just one favor...can you guys get onto ABC and tell them to put up the episodes of Private Practice?? I miss addison and need some of her spice of life!!!

Thanks again for the AWESOME show!! Can't wait for the next season to see what happens to all of your friends who have become my friends!!

Thanks for the update. I've been checking daily and look forward to Saturday's post.

Have fun with the spelling bee! Quality spelling and grammar are sadly, a lost art. So many people just don't care any more.

I love the Spelling bee! I will watch it too and check out the blog and we'll look forward to hearing from you next week, Shonda! Rock on, spellers! My 8 yr old son will be watching! :)

Okay Shonda - YOU ROCK!! Really, you do! I'm definitely going to have to check out your blog becaue I LOVE the National spelling bee! I was a geek kid who was always in the spelling bees at school and quite often won. Although I never made it to the National level I went pretty far. So anyway, thanks for letting us know what's up with you and have fun with your blog and the Bee!

It's about time Izzie and Alex have some fire again. This season finale brought back the qualitlies in all the characters we all loved from the first season. Best of the season by far!!

Oh my gosh! Shonda, please tell us about Izzie and Alex. We can't take it any more! Please dear God let Saturday come fast. And I really don't want to die until the end of this series!! Please don't die. Please don't die. I'm pathetic.

And God created the skinflap.
And it was good.
And much winrar was had by all.

Great work Shonda & Team on Season 4. Looking forward to #5.

The Spelling Bee is actually a lot of fun to watch.

I remember the year that a kid was asked to spell the letter "H". How much would it suck to work so hard and get out because you couldn't spell "H". (Apparently it's something like aitch.

Great show. seriously love it. Coming back on what Jay Wallace said. I would not want to be in the care of Alex now! What is the matter with him? What sort of doctor is that? clearly the sort you only see on tv when he can seriously look at Izzie and tell him about Rebecca "She is fine".."I can take care of her" " She does not need a psych consult". I am so not buying this..

OMG. Better than the reveal that Bailey is a Star Wars nerd ... Shonda loves the National Spelling Bee.

have fun... i thought you left us hanging with part 2 of the finale blog

Thanks for letting us know, well done for another fantastic season. I cried and laughed and enjoyed it all! Thank you!

I keep checking back for the update!! Shonda, you have to talk to us about Alex. I watched the whole finale again and really, it was only for the last 5 mins. Alex was phenomenal. The raw pain that was portrayed, the defeat, the disappointment, feeling inadequate. That was the scene that choked me up. I've always wanted Izzie & Alex together. She's the one he truly cares about but can't let himself be vulnerable. To see that side of him, his pleading with her, just broke me in two.

Izzie has been around the block lately with the guys and yeah, George was a mistake. She can depend on Alex though. For such a prat that he is, he has ALWAYS been there for her and I think he would be in a relationship with her deeper than any other relationship she's been in. He was upset he went with Denny but when Denny died, he was the first one that sprung into action and didn't leave her side. He was angry with her for George because all this time, he's been there loving her and waiting and she never saw it. Now she needs to see it and she needs to realize that Alex is the real deal.

When he sat on that bed and cried, he looked like he was 5 years old. I honestly thought it was one of the most powerful scenes ever on GA. So subtly done, so well acted. Just astonishing and it really punched me in the gut.

Anyways, more when we get the updated blog. :)

Enjoy the Bee. And then give us the low down. Hope is a good thing. And being vulnerable is scary!

This is by far the best episode I have seen of Greys and I haven't missed one. I truly liked the way the season ended on a positive note. This time last year I was really starting to think about not watching Greys anymore, shame on me for doubting you. Shame
