GOOD MEDICINE...
Oh my God, WE ARE BACK!
We are. Really. SERIOUSLY. Writers are writing away and we’re all very excited about getting back to our Mer and our Der and our Iz and our…well, our EVERYBODY.
It has not been so fun to be away from our friends at Seattle Grace. Remember when George walked the strike line? It was kinda like that. Only without the cuteness of George to make it fun.
But WE ARE BACK!
Working to get episodes on the air for you! Wha-hey!
Here’s the thing: we have to write the episodes and the actors and crew have to shoot the episodes and the editors have to edit the episodes. And it doesn’t matter how fast my beloved Bossy McBossy Rob Corn gets us to move, it’s still going to take some time.
Because my fingers only type at a certain speed. And I have to say all the dialogue out loud to myself. And ask McBossy weird questions. Questions like, “McBossy, can you build a corn field over by the fake hospital and make it explode?” Questions that cause him to furrow his brow and run from my office. Plus, you remember that I need some time to lie on the floor and worry about the characters. Which is why I try to drive Rob away with the questions. So I have the lie-on-the-floor-and-worry time.
My point is, it’s going to take a while to get from my typing fingers to your TV screen. Our first new episode will air at the end of April.
What will you do until then to get your Grey’s on? If only you could see the actors in person. If only you could go see them on stage, in person, talking and laughing and yes, SINGING for charity…
YOU CAN!!!
For one night only, the casts of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice are coming together for a live performance! An unforgettable evening of laughter and song to benefit crew members who were affected by the strike.
Because while the strike is over, it will be months before many crew members are back to work. Millions of dollars in income were lost. Many crew members are suffering. And we want to do anything we can to help out.
So:
FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY, February 29, 2008 at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles, CA we are presenting GOOD MEDICINE. A little singing, a little funny, a lot of raising money.
Come on out and join the casts of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. See TR KNIGHT SING! Hear Tony Winners Audra MacDonald and Sara Ramirez! See Katie and Kate! See Ellen and Sandra! SEE THEM ALL! CAUSE THEY WANNA SEE YOU! And help raise some money to help others!
Tickets are $85. You can buy them on Ticketmaster.com or call the UCLA Central Ticket Office at 310-825-2101. Tickets are going to go fast and you don’t want to miss this one time event.
I hope to see you there! I’ll be the one in the too-sparkly dress (I love sparkly to the point of tacky), looking pleased and proud of my kickass casts as they work to entertain you….

So happy your back...it's been a long winter without the greatest show on TV. If only the benefit was in Canada i would be there in a second. maybe we can download it somewhere.
Happy writing
P.s. HATE what you have done with my McDreamy but i have missed you so can't be to angry....yet!

Yeah, you are back!!! The past few episodes without a blog just aren't the same. The cast should tour, at least to DC, I'd pay $85 to go see them.

Is there a place to send donations to the crew that were affected by the strike? I live in Chicago and can't make the show.
Thanks :) Happy Writing!
Can't wait to see the new shows!

I admit it, I'm glad you're back. But, I'm seriously distressed these days about my favorite show, especially the mer/der of it all.
I agree that I would love to see a blog on 4.11. I was left questioning everything.
I hate Rose. Ugh. Please, please, please, please dispense with her quickly and painlessly. She and Dempsey have NO chemistry and she is just dragging down the whole show. I beg of you not to extend her contract or make her a full time cast member. That will send your most ardent fans spiraling out of control.
I'm terribly confused about Derek these days. I don't know what you've got in store for him. I hope his actions start to make some sense. I want to believe al the McDreamy things he says, but then his actions make him look McAssy. Is he good enough for Mer?
I am really hoping that you don't turn Mer/Der into primetime's most dysfunctional couple. They don't need to be that. They are wonderful together and the main reason I watch the show. But, I don't know if I can take the ups and downs anymore.
Like many fans, I would love to see some healthier relationships on the show.I think there is plenty of drama and interesting storylines to do.
Please, no more triangles. They are the most cliched thing on TV. Shonda, you are better than that.

Im not exited for more Der he is a jackass. Can Mer get McSteamy?

DVD - yes; or better yet pay per view, so we don't need to wait for the DVD????

This is GREAT! loving that things are back. miss my dose of Meredith and everyone at seatle grace.
The benefit is amazing.
I agree with the DVD idea, sell it and use the proceeds as well. because like a lot of them, I can't make it. :( I live too far away.
But I would definately buy the DVD. I would love to meet Ellen and the rest of the cast (but specially Ellen, love love love her). It would be a dream come true. but alas. so I hope the DVD idea works out.
thanks and glad you're back.

I am glad you are back as well, but only if you get MEREDITH & DEREK TOGETHER! SOON!
Posted by: Loclare | February 14, 2008 at 03:47 PM
I totally support the DVD idea cause I don't even live int he states, so no way I'm getting a chance to see the awesome.
And also, like, if Grey's is coming back, and from what I've heard, Private Practice isn't, can Kate Walsh go and visit? It would be beyond awesome if Dr. Addison Montgomery came back for a few episodes!
xoxo

Yeah, I live in Indiana and Thursday nights are getting mighty long during all of these snowstorms!! I was beginning to wonder what would last longer - the strike or winter....
Welcome back!!!

Hear that sound? No??
Listen a little more closely.
It's the sound of all being right with the world again.
Welcome back! :D

I have been going crazy without greys, I feel lost its been so long. When will the last episode rerun? I need to refresh my memory
Posted by: Stacie L | February 14, 2008 at 04:20 PM
Hurray! Now get me my Mer/Der!
Posted by: Nelle | February 14, 2008 at 04:27 PM
I'm curious if the season will be extended this year to make up for the missing episodes...if not, the season 4 dvd will be awfully small, and that would be really sad. :( Oh, and I would buy the benifit on DVD too, great idea!

welcome!
Posted by: SHADY | February 14, 2008 at 04:38 PM
Why don't you post an address for those of us who wouldn't mind contributing to the cause but don't live in the LA area.
Where could we send a donation?
Then get back to work!!!!!!!!!!

Please ignore all the Mer/Der or else comments. I would consider it amazing if you actually kept them broken up and had them move on with other people. Do I think Rose is it for Derek? No. But I don't think he's right for Meredith either. Both Mark AND Alex understand her better. Finn treated her better. Can't they just admit they have great sexual chemistry but just aren't compatible long term as a couple? That would be awesome. Thanks
I second (fourth? Fifth?)the DVD idea, becuase I will be in Spain for this event, but I'd kill to see Audra and Sara singing together.
Finally, I know Addison's gone off to Private Practice, but it's just weird how no one on Grey's mentions her and she never metions them on PrP. Can't you just write a line somewhere where Callie is on the phone with Addison, or Bailey mentions she sent a card re: Little Tuck? Just so we remember these shows are related and one day might see an Callie/Mark/Derek road trip to sunny S. Cal?

We missed you! Congratulations on working out the strike.
And whaaaat that benefit sounds AMAZING. Tell us there will be a DVD or something for fans who can't make it to LA!

Hey Shonda and crew,
I am so happy to hear that you are all back. I supported the writers the whole time and really admire all that you do. I bought a writer's strike official t-shirt, purchased pencils to send to the AMPTP, and sent my own envelope of four pennies to the AMPTP on my own time. I was always the go-to-girl for the writer's strike news because I wanted to know everything about it. I am happy that it's over and I hope you WGA members feel good about your overall contract now. It's not perfect, but you worked hard and made a difference. I can't wait to see the amazing work that you put out now and thanks for all of your hard work.
---Mary
P.S. Congratulations Krista on your new contract. You deserve it so much.
