Supervising Producers Gabrielle Stanton and Harry Werksman on "Under Pressure"

Original Airdate: April 24, 2006

Shhhhh…. All our doctors are sleeping.  It’s been a very long season and they needed a nap…

Just kidding.  Kinda.  We can’t believe we’re finally shooting the season finale.  27 original episodes this season!  Putting together this show, we were once again struck by how much really good, serious stuff happens every week.  Did anyone notice that there wasn’t a whole lot of medicine in the clip show?  That’s because there wasn’t time! If you didn’t see one of your favorite moments, remember, we only have 42 minutes to tell our story.  Some of our favs didn’t make it either.  But every clip that made it in, made it in for a reason – to set up the final five episodes of season two (the last two episodes will air on one night as a two hour finale!).  All you long-time loyal fans are in for one amazing ride.

Meredith and Derek.  Wow have these two been through it or what? And now they’re going to be friends.  Go on dog dates, be supportive of each other… be friends.  Really?  Can this work? We (the staff) wrote a version at one point where they decided NOT to be friends but then thought, nope, there’s more emotion to mine if they are friends.  Right?  But just when it seems like everything’s going to settle down and Meredith decides to knit, along comes our hunky vet Finn.  Hmmm.  Place your bets folks.  Friends?  Finn?  Addison?  McDreamy and Mer?  Hope the five episodes remaining are enough.  You don’t think we’re going to let it get easy for any of them…

There’s going to be lots of excitement and heartache for our other couples too.  Burke and Cristina are definitely going to be tested. And Alex and Izzie and Denny are such a sad triangle.  How can Izzie possibly chose?  Denny is so sweet.  But did you see Alex and Izzie with that cupcake?  Someone might not be quite as “evil” as he wants everyone to believe.  We love George and Callie too. George is Callie’s McDreamy.  Who knew?!  But is Callie the McLove of George’s life?  Can anyone really replace Meredith in George’s heart?

It’s frustrating we know, but we just can’t give you any answers right now.  Shonda would kill us!  But we hope you enjoyed seeing some of our favorite moments of Grey’s and know that you’re totally up to speed for the final five episodes of season two.  Get ready, set, Go!

I totally didn't expect a new BLOG this week considering it was a clip episode but THANK YOU for posting! AND THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT THERE WILL BE A WHOPPING 27 EPISODES THIS SEASON!!!! YAY!!!! I was so dreading that each next week would be the last! ARGH!

YAY! 5 new ones to go! Who knew there would be that much more gold at the end of this rainbow?

Bring it on!

PS the clips were vivid and engrossing to see again. "Pink mist" still stops my heart.

It's ok that you can't give us the answers. It's much more exciting to tune in every week. Having seen every episode this season - and watched the entire DVD set of season 1, I watched last night too. Watching Derek remember "the last kiss" for Meredith made my heart sigh again! Patrick Dempsey brings so much to that character. Can't wait for the new episodes to begin again!!

It has been too long! It is going to be a long summer! Can't wait to see what you have in store for the next five episodes! My vote is for Der and Mer, Chris is McCute, but Derek is McDreamy!

ashleyroo

it's about time for a new episode! I'm getting desperate! This season has been great. I absolutely love this show!

Hali

Love the show, I can't wait to see the last few episodes of the season. I want Izzy and Denny to hook up! Alex is a total loser and doesn't deserve Izzy. That's such a no brainer!

canKNITian

I am *primed* for the next episode! Thanks for showing a lot of my favourite clips. George, Bailey and the baby sequence is one of my all-time favourites.

Allison T.

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!1

Sara

Will there be a season 3?

Darci

I can't wait for the next five episodes...but at the same time, I definitely don't want the season to end. How am I suppose to survive over the summer without my weekly dose of Grey's Anatomy?

Which reminds me... When is season two coming out on DVD? I know it's kinda early to ask (since the season isn't even over yet) but watching this episode reminds me of all the GREAT stuff that has happened since season one's finale.

Although I have yet to miss an episode (a true follower from the very beginning!), I love to re-watch and see how much the characters have grown... not to mention I love getting my GA ignornt friends as thoroughly obsessed- or at least close- as I am.

Anyway, I am truly excited about the remaining five and can't wait to see how season ends.

Paula

3 weeks without GA is too long....Can't even think about the summer hiatus!

Thought the show was great...forgot some parts; fond memories of others!

I think Callie and George are OK; but I think George deserves someone "more." Don't know how or what or where, but "more."

Don't like Issy and Denny, not one bit...but then I am not writing the show and I guess he can always be killed/die off (did i just write that???)

Thanks for the memories!

Sorry but the clip show just wasn't very satisfying, esp. after you've been off 2 weeks. We at least deserved more previews.
I hope ABC doesn't kill interest in this show by spacing out new episodes and interrupting it for other things. I can say that's one of the reasons I'm pretty tired of "Lost" already....and "Alias", too.

PLEASE don't let that happen to GA!!

Wake up the docs & get back to work! ;)

Holly

If you can make the season finale as amazing as the bomb episode, then I think we're good to go. Remember, we have to wait the whoel summer for a new episode, so please don't leave us hanging too too much.... We love you guys!

Brenda

First of all THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! for such an awesome show. I was hooked on it when I first saw the show (bomb-episode) and have been hooked ever since, so much so that I HAD to go buy the 1st season DVD and watch it all in 1 day. Love it.

But I had been in a little bit of a pickle since I picked up the show mid-season and there was nothing I could rent, buy or download, I was stuck w/ soooo many ?s and last night I finally got them answered!!! Yeah me! So I now feel completely caught up and ready for more, give me, give me, give me...

I feel like such an addict, I live for my Sundays, just hook me up and let it be!!

Paul

'Bout time we got something new! I can hardly wait any longer for next week! It's been a month!

Betty

Thanks for your comments. It has been a fun ride so far this season - just don't let us down.

Make sure you included some Shirtless MCSTEAMY in that finale - naked isn't a bad idea either.

His addition to the cast sure made your job easy.

Flirting McSteamy
Naked McSteamy
Shirtless McSteamy

Oh --- there are other characters on the show. Oops forgot!

As long as this torturous triangle ends, and Mer gets some happiness - I am just dreaming about a season of McSteamy

Marcieann

Ok, did I miss something? 5 (five) episodes left?!?! I thought there were only 4? Yippee for bonus episodes!!!

evan

thanks for that, you guys did a good job on the recap but it would of been nice to have some one else narrorate it, like richard or some one, or his wife shes funny thanks . Cant wait for the 3 hour season fanaly!

Jenny

I can't believe we're getting 5 new episodes!!! You guys are just too much! :)

I hope everyone benefitted from the break, not that we noticed anyone being tired! :) Just have to tell you I'm in LOVE with Grey's and this break has just made me a more die-hard fan! Oh, and please kiss PD for me ;)

Best regards from Iceland!

What do you mean, the triangle of Izzy and Alex and Denny????? It is Izzy and Denny!!!! The slezoid, egomaniacal Alex was banished to the stag line a few episodes ago, wasn't he????

Oh, please tell me it wasn't a false dumping of Alex. I can't stand the guy. I know that television needs guys like Alex to stir things up, but I hate the idea of Izzy with him!!! Hate!! Hate!!! Hate!!!!

The clip show was all right, but I am more interested in the rest of the season.

As for Mer/Der/Finn.... I have been rooting for Mer and Der for a long, long, time. But I am at the point now where I hope that Meredith has a choice, and that she shoots Derek down. Why would someone want someone who didn't "choose me. love me." in the first place?

Here is my hope for the final epp... that the events of the show don't overshadow the human intricacies.

But I am totally ready for GA to resume!

Thanks for the blog. It was a very pleasant surprise.

Ann

Thank you for last night's episode! I missed the one when Meredith starts to knit and am so glad I FINALLY got to see the McCute vet and get up to speed! Can't wait for the next five episodes!

Heather Cook

Oh no one can replace Meredith in George's heart. I'm firm on that one! Though I look forward to you trying to convince me.

Afterall, I was once in love with my exhusband.

Danama

I got my husband to start watching the show pretty regularly with me beginning with the Super Bowl episodes. So he appreciated the clip show (almost) as much as I did. He said, "this is so set up for the husbands, getting us caught up with all the stuff we missed." Every time I see Richard, I like his character a bit more. Last night I was reminded of that when he asked Derek, after he and Addison are explaining hitting Mark, "Did you put your weight into it?.... Well, alright then." But I find his wife to be a BIT more insightful; "That's not the SHE he was asking about." Looking forward to Sunday.... the summer break? Not so much.

Great recap...Really enjoyed it...thoroughly engrossed in it until my son called from L.A. and interrupted. Eric, you should know better than to call me between 10:00 and 11:00 EST. on a Sunday night! ooxx

While I know this is the writer's blog, I'd like to give a big shout out to the film and sound editors who did an amazing job of making Under Pressure flow so smoothly.

As for Gabrielle and Harry's final comment, Shonda you should be 007.
In my book, you've got my licence to kill any one who spills the beans. I like that you take the trouble to keep plot points hidden until broadcast.

There is a reason they call them spoilers.

First of all, thank you for another amazing season. I think that Meredith and Derek will still be good friends. As for Finn, I think that him and Meredith will decided to try dating and then Finn will cheat on her with another doctor at Seattle Grace; possibly Addison? I think that Addison will beg Mer not to tell Derek. Heartbroken and tired of "being the other women" in relationships, she looks for comfort in her work.
I think that Derek would be the only person she could still talk to. She tells Derek that she walked in on Finn and "another woman" (Addison). Derek comforts her.
