As promised, MORE from Krista regarding her last episode....
So, I said I would try last week to come back soon and write more about "Yesterday." I said I would try, and I meant it. I did try. But when I had to choose between writing dialogue for the actors to say and updating the writers’ blog – well, I’m trusting that you understand. I still don’t have much time, because Shonda keeps me handcuffed to my desk, with an IV drip of caffeine and marching orders that I must follow. Still, there are a few things I wanted to tell you -- and by you, I mean those of you who don’t write and call me names like ‘loser’ and ‘stupid whore.’ :)
1. The Orgasm Lady’s medical condition was that she had a small tumor on her pudendal artery, which supplies blood to the clitoris. So that area was constantly being stimulated. It was unfortunate that we had to cut the scene that explained it all but the episode was running long. Yes, it was based on an actual case.
2. The episode was titled “Yesterday” even though the theme was “growing up” – because at one point the theme was “the past” – but things change quickly around here, and when we changed the theme, we never got around to changing the title. (We were probably busy updating the writer’s blog.) If you think about it, several of the stories actually reflect both themes – but the growing up thing felt more relevant somehow. The cancer man who is still bearing grudges from childhood and the beautiful and funny lionitis kid who never gets a chance to grow up and the orgasm lady who feels like a freak the way most of us do as teenagers and all of our characters who in this episode seem trapped in a prolonged state of adolescence…
3. McSteamy is indeed hot. And yes, there is the possibility for a return visit sometime – but the deal was this: he asked Addison to meet him at the bar and come home to NY with him. And Addison didn’t show. So Mark went home to NY alone. Sad but true.
4. Yes, Addison is keeping a secret from Derek about the actual dynamics of her affair with Mark. My guess is that Derek has never asked, and that Addison wants so much for him to forgive her that she has opted to lie by omission. I don’t know if Derek will ever find out. Wouldn’t it be crazy if he didn’t? Wouldn’t it be crazy if, as in life, some of the secrets and lies just never surfaced? Man. There would be more name-calling is my guess…
5. The scene with Burke and Cristina dancing is my personal favorite in the history of Grey’s. It was so fabulously adorable and intimate and character-revealing all at once. Sandra and Isaiah just floored me and Rob Corn – whom Shonda refers to as Bossy McBossy, remember? – did a brilliant job directing it.
6. WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT KEVIN COVAIS’ SPEECH IMPEDIMENT? Seriously, how are you supposed to have a professional singing career when you sound like this: “You should have told me yourthelf, that you loved thomeone elth, insthead I heard it through the grapevine…”??? He is sweet kid – even a talented singer, but seriously! Maybe I’ll write to Simon Cowell and call him some names…
-Krista

Ignore the name callers - they never matured past kindergarden - they just progressed past "stupid head" as an insult.
Thank you so much for coming back - although I could sense hesitance, just know for every two vocal loud mouths there are 10 people quietly enjoying your writing and blogs and love the show.
Great job and who didn't love Burke and Cristina dancing- just has to make you smile.
P.S. love the soundtrack

Krista~
So glad you're back. I was just telling my mom that I hoped those people who called you names didn't deter you from furthur blogging. I LOVED the episode...every minute. It was real. That's what I keep saying. That this show isn't afraid to be real and to make things messy like they are in real life. We all make mistakes and do things that we shouldn't, but those are what make us human and those are the things that make the Grey's characters human. Can't wait for your next episode. Keep up the good work and tell Shonda to make sure it's good coffee in the IV!!!!!

I'd like to see McSteamy and McDreamy get into a duel of somekind. Something where they have to pull of their shirts off. He must come back. He must!

Hey Krista,
How are you doing? Hope Shonda isn't stressing you out cos we need you to keep writing those beautiful lines that we have come to expect from you.
Anyways, after reading your latest entry, I kinda felt a little ashamed, cos I was one of those crazy people that went off on you last week, I swear I didn't say you were a loser or stupid whore! what? you? NEVER! I just said you guys were making Mer look bad. And on behalf of all the stupid crazy obssessed fans that went a little crazy last week, I'M SORRY!!!!!!
Just promise me that you guys are going to make things a little better for Meredith PLEASE!!!
Thanks Krista, and I really enjoyed the first 40mins of the show.

Krista!! Thanks so much for updating! It almost makes up for not getting a new episode this week. Stupid Oscars! Ha I loved the Christina/Burke scene. So cute! And I love the song. Sorry for all of the crazy fans and their immature name calling. We love you!!

You did a great job! I was totally ready to harpoon Meredith, with some sort of harpooning device, but that was just incredibly pitiful, seeing how their doing the deed went. Instead of poor George, it was an overwhelming poor Meredith. Laying limp and crying as he... Man, nice writing. I love you guys. My friends and I all gather around every Sunday to watch your show....good to finally have a great show to obsess about again.

I think she should fess up to Derek, she was living with Mc Steamy and my guess is she came to SGH to leave him and found out he was with Meri and she didnt want that.. I dont know why i just dont like that.
And thanks for the post!!!

You stupid whorey bitch! You took away McSteamy! Hah, I'm joking. I'd never call anyone involved with making Grey's Anatomy *the best freaking show ever* a whore or a bitch.
Is there someone we can write to, call, or email to tell ABC that they are horrible people for putting the Oscar on when Grey's Anatomy is supposed to be on? Tradition Smadition. I'd pick GA over 3 hours of boring speeches any day. Unless, of course, Grey's was nominated for an Oscar. Which isn't possible, so you get the point? Am I rambling? I think I'm rambling.

Omg... i'm a lurker, not a poster, but I was literally sitting at my desk cracking up out loud at your Kevin Covais line. I think the exact same thing. He's gotta go. Great line, great writer! love your show!

Love the show!! Love you guys!! Love the blog!! But, I also love NASCAR, and I didn't get home from the race in time to see "Yesterday". So while your blogs are awesome, couldn't you just rerun it right away?? It's the only one I've ever missed, and, I really hate reading things like "this is my personal favorite scene" (as addressed above about Burke and Christina)and not being able to agree or disagree!!
I have to say, you have reached Star Status (as if you didn't already know), when you get plugged on another network. I fell out of my chair when the residents on Scrubs last Tuesday just wanted to go home and watch Grey's!!
And finally, as a Gray's Anatomy Hardcover Edition book owner, I like EVERYthing about you show SOOOO much better than ANYthing about that book. Would love to spend Friday and Saturday nights curled up with your show way more than the hundreds of Fridays and Saturday nights I spent curled up with that book!!!
Thanks for a kick ass show. Daily blog postings would be an added treat from you guys, but I understand that youhave a job to do!!

Sorry people called you names for not getting your blog done on time. Come on people, rudeness is uncalled for. We are lucky the writers have a blog.
Loved McSteamy, perfect name. Loved your episode, one of the BEST ones yet.
Thank you.

Krista~
Thank you for writing more. I thoroughly enjoyed this entry--hell, I've thoroughly enjoyed most of the entries. But really, you've got wit and great articulation. (And if I didn't say so before, I think that "Yesterday" had some of my favorite dialogue to date. *smile*)
It's awesome that you, and all the other writers, take the time to talk to us (and I say 'us' meaning those NOT calling you names! *grin*). It's so lovely, and so refreshing.
And you made my night, btw--saying that there is a possibility that McSteamy could return. McDreamy AND McSteamy...*lovely pleasant thoughts* Now, if Dane could only be shirtless again...hehe. But seriously, he did an amazing job with that role. He really named the mix of seductive charm, blatant observation and honesty, as well as that whole Bad Boy danger thing. Exquisitely done, really. :)
Again, thanks for updating!

I think Kevin is cute. And he so looks like Chicken Little. (Chris is gonna take it all by the way). Anyways...Krista thanks so much for updating the blog! It is always great to hear about GA. Plus, you know that we will be DTing come Sunday knowing that we don't have an eppy to watch.

I, too, think that too little attention was given to a bomb exploding inside the hospital.
What IF... all of the interns are asked to attend sessions with a staff psychiatrist... played by Shonda herself... where George confesses that he may be apologizing for sleeping with Meredith on the outside, but on the inside, he's going "Oh, yeah, baby!" as loud as he can.

Hi Krista,
You and all the writer's are seriously amazing for doing this blog. I love this show; I hear music from an episode and I remember scenes (seriously; happened tonight in a store, I heard that song Meredith dances to with the tequila bottle at the big party in Season 1 :~) I also loved the Christina/Burke dance scene...I think I scared my roommates I was laughing so hard. Oh, and ask Shonda to send me a caffeine IV for me please...

Thanks for the additional update. Amazing that people would call you names for writing a fabulous show . . .
As always, great work.

Note to Self: Edit before posting. The sentence that reads "He really named..." should be "He really nailed..."
*hangs head in editorial shame*

in case it hasn't been said enough (and when it's good things...nobody gets tired of hearing it, at least I don't) THANK YOU FOR THE BLOG...AND YOUR PARTICIPATION IN IT...on the off days where there is no grey's anatomy to behold...your blog, and comments brighten my otherwise probably boring day ;-)
Keep up the good work! Just know we're hoping for the best for you, the show, and the characters we love
By the way, is there any chance of more uplifiting scenes like Christina and Burke's dance?
Posted by: Faith | March 02, 2006 at 07:14 PM
I promise to never call you names! Kinda scared of those who do...that's pretty sad.
And I absolutely LOVED the Burke/Cristina dancing scene!

Rock on Krista! Thanks for your thoughts/words on "Yesterday". After seeingthe bigger picture in "What Have I Done To Deserve This" episode, I now have a better understanding of where you were going wtih all of this. Your blog here also helps. Lies....well, I think if Addie doesn't want Derek to know then he won't know. However, he'll find out one day I bet and that will be a sad time in that it hurts Derek that much more to know how deep the lies Addie had were. She had much more with Mark than he knows, or at least is willing to admit to himself. I suspect that Derek knows down deep there was more there between them, especially after seeing Mark in town recently.
I'm with you about the dance scene. That was my favorite scene too. Nicely done!!!!
Thanks again Krista...and keep that IV flowing!! hahaha

I am so addicted to this show, and after reading your blogs, I realize why. I am in a way both George and Meredith. And I had a McDreamy, and it is all so complex on the show, but when you bring it into the real world (whether its 10 years ago, or 4 years ago, or yesterday) it totally parallels the majority of people's lives at some point in time. And that is why its so great. You take the real, and you make it entertaining. It's much better than any reality tv shows out there. Keep it up, I want this show to stick around... along with Patrick. Who didnt think he was so cute in "Loverboy" and "Can't Buy Me Love" COME ON!!

I am sorry. I admit it. I love Kevin Covais and was very scared tonight.
Another thing I love, Burke & Cristina dancing. :-)
