From Shonda: THE HARD TRUTH
Okay, this is the last time I’m going to post on a non-episode night. I hate not posting because it is kind of addictive for me to write to you guys – I so love hearing what you say back. But I like to step back and hand over the blog to the next episode’s writer and this Sunday’s episode was written by the very talented, very funny Krista Vernoff with story by Mimi Schmir (also funny and talented) and…oh, you are NOT GOING TO BELIEVE HOW GOOD THE EPISODE IS, let me tell you what happens. It starts with…oh, yeah, the secrecy thing.
The point is, I shouldn’t be posting right now. I have no right to be posting.
But I had to.
Because I’ve been reading your comments.
And reading.
And reading (you guys wrote a lot of comments).
And I’m getting kind of worried about some of you. Not all of you. Just the really nice some of you who have sweet, kind, idealistic, optimistic, hopeful thoughts about Dylan.
Brace yourselves. Ready?
Dylan is dead, y’all.
He’s really dead.
He exploded.
Into a LOT of tiny pieces.
That stuff being washed off Meredith by Cristina and Izzie in the shower scene at the end?
That was chunks of Dylan.
In the lexicon of dead, that makes him super-dead.
DEAD.
May he rest in peace.
I’m really sorry. I really am.

I felt that the scene with Addison and George was a lovely foreshadowing; both of them hopelessly in love. Also, as Addison is phased out- as she must be, for who can compete with true love and lavender b/t Mer/Der?- and George comes completely into himself, he'll hopefully try to win Meredith for himself, creating another delightful, tortuous triangle. If you'd kept handsome as heck Kyle around... it would be too many men to root for! :)

Okay, okay I'll accept it. Dylan's dead. *sniff* I was just wondering why his and bomb squad guy #2's deaths weren't acknowledged by the staff later on. I mean, a bomb just exploded upstairs! My only nitpick. Other than that amazing work, Shonda!

I already loved the show... but that moment, it sealed it for me. I sat there staring at the TV in a way I had not since new episodes of MI-5. It was the I CAN NOT BELIEVE THEY JUST DID THAT - props to them stare.

Yeah, we know he's dead.
sigh.
When he stood in for Dr. McDreamy, I knew he was marked for death.

Shonda, Your team did such an amazing job casting this show. Yes, you writers are outstanding, but let's not forget the actors. There is not one weak one in the bunch. Even each week's patients are great. Thank you thank you thank you for bringing us this wonderful hour each week.

I love how interactive you guys are with all the blogs. Thank you for that. :)
Is it Sunday yet?!
Posted by: kels | February 18, 2006 at 09:34 PM
Of course he's dead. But did he have a twin? (hopeful smile)
Posted by: Angela | February 18, 2006 at 09:37 PM
Gee. Here are all these people not being sure if Dylan is dead, and I am worrying about how hard Meredith hit her head on the floor when the bomb exploded. Seriously, I am worried about there being a residual about that. But maybe she just got a bad headache.

Wow. This is an AMAZING show. I think it's great how people of all ages like this, my mom, my brother and myself watch it every Sunday. :]].
Last night i spent the night with my friend, and we watched the Greys Anatomy Season 1 all night. From 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. That is how much i love it. You guys are doing a spectacular job! On Monday I'll come to school and talk about it and so many people that go to my school watch it!
I am with all those MerDer lovers. They are absolutely perfect for each other. Last episode when he told her about 'the kiss' i screamed at the t.v. when he just left. :[[. but hey, keep it up. you are doing amazing beyond compare.

Shonda,
I have to tell you I squealed like a 16 year old at a boy band concert when I found this blog. I just wanted to let you know both my husband and I love your show and now your blog. Looking forward to the next episode!

Shonda- You are amazing! I love reading your blog about the show and how you came up with the episode and what you were feeling. It makes the show that much better. I have to agree whole heartedly with you about the last scene about the kiss description. It was amazing to watch the looks on Mer/Der faces as they spoke to one another. I love how you broke the two episodes up and how they fit together perfectly like puzzle pieces. I think there is a song on the soundtrack that talks about being like pieces of a puzzle. Can't remember the name off the top of my head. Anyway, wanted you to know how much I appreciate YOUR talent and the wonderful cast you have!

Please continue to blog! I was hoping to find out for sure if Dylan was dead or not... so this post was great! By the way, I have been to four different stores to try and find Season 1 on DVD - all four sold out in under two hours. Can't wait for Sunday! --- Elizabeth

I just want to say that I absolutely LOVE the show. It is by far the best show on tv. It actually gives me a reason to look forward to Sunday. And kind of off topic but I also am in ove with the soundtrack. Beautiful music for a beautifully written show.
And I will forgive you for killing Dylan. Im just glad it wasnt George.

P.S. - Im still trying to think of a way to throw in the word "Vajayjay" in a sentence without it seeming incredibly awkward :)

I found this blog the other day by accident. I have now passed it on to all of my Grey's freaks. I can't tell how happy Sunday night makes me.
Thanks.

Shonda, you never cease to amuse me in your writing. Ever! You make me laugh out loud at the most appropriate times. Keep it up, girl!

This post made me LOL. Like, a lot. While I'm sick and exhausted from a long day, so, thanks. :D
Thanks also, for clearing up whether or not Dylan was dead or not. XD XD Because, I dunno, it was kinda ambiguous...
Now that my tongue is firmly lodged in my cheek, I'd better go giggling somewhere else. :3

Reading "That stuff being washed off Meredith by Cristina and Izzie in the shower scene at the end?
That was chunks of Dylan.
" made me a little sick to my stomach.
Love the show. The last episode is probably the best thing I have ever seen on tv. I laughed, I cried, I shouted at the TV. Thanks for such riveting television and keep up the great work!

Don't stop posting...you're hilarious and it always makes me laugh reading your blog...did Dylan goto heaven? Did the angles come in and take his bloody mist to the pearly gates?
Just watched the first 3 episodes on DVD and I can't believe how much I love the show...seriously the best drama on TV right now...please don't let ABC cancel you guys, I don't think I could take another great show being cancelled.

I am a tv writer who wants to write for you. Doubt this will get posted, but I'd love to have my agent send over a writing sample.

Absolutely stunning. I didn't expect it at all -- and it was so shocking and sudden, it was amazing. Most shows would go "oh happy ending, let's all go have some cake now and talk about our exciting day" but no, this one ends with "oh everything's over -- KABOOOOM!" I'd also like to mention that I was working at the time of the episode, and our entire office stopped work to watch the episode, and when that scene came, there was absolute pandemonium. Thanks for that feeling.

I loved the scene where the "Early Edition" guy died for 2 reasons. A) I didn't like him and B) seeing Mere's pushed back was kinda cool as well.
I really love these blogs. So nice to see writers who care about the fans.
The show should be called "George's Anatomy" (even though Grey's Anatomy is a real book...). George rocks!

Like all of the other people who have posted here I am a hugh fan.. The last two weeks have been amazing! I can't remember a time when I've been so excited about a show.. When that bomb exploded and Mer was on the floor and then cut to break I litterally started yelling Oh My God at the tv.. You all are sooo talented on that show. The writing, the acting, all of it.. I wanted to say how great it is that you all take the time to post and share your thoughts about the episodes. That is one of the things that makes GA the best show on tv.. Like everyone else I can't wait for the MerDer reunion, but you guys are writting their seperation so beautifully. Making it so that even though they aren't together they still are.. If that makes since.. The two of them at the end of last weeks show... well lets just say I have both episodes on Tivo and I can't help but watch over and over.. Thanks so much for the entertainment..
