EVEN more from Shonda... Thank you!

Okay….how much do I love you guys?

You really did watch.  YOU WATCHED.  Thank you.  Even to those of you who wrote to say that I’m a horrid skank and that you hated the shower scene and you hated me and the show and puppies and candy and whiskers on kittens and raindrops on roses….well, you watched too and you have a total right to your opinion so….thank you too.

I am honestly so grateful that I am posting one more time.  At first, I told myself I was posting because over 600 of you wrote back in the comments -- which is unprecendented and exciting for our little blog.  Or that I was posting again because you had so many questions.  But, truth is, I literally can not wait for you to see next week’s episode so I had to post.  And because I really am grateful.

That and the fact that I’m all worried about my fellow Tivo users who had the show cut off early because, while Tivo can do a lot, it can’t know ahead of time that the Super Bowl is gonna run long.

I heard your screams of rage and pain all the way over at my house.  Dudes, my Tivo didn’t catch the whole thing either.  And I know that I have access to a recorded version of the show that I can watch unlike everyone else in America, but what I do not have is a full Tivo-ed version of the show with all the commercials and everything.  Because I had this big old party going on with my friends and the cast and the crew and we were all so busy yelling and freaking out that we were actually on TV, that I missed all the commercials.

Truth is, I had to go hide in a corner while it aired because I was kinda overwhelmed by the whole thing.  There was a Super Bowl.  And then we aired right after it.  That is CRAZY.

Anyway, I want all you Tivo-ers and people who missed the episode to know that I am personally begging the network to re-run the episode sometime before next Sunday so that we can have it for our Tivos.  And maybe they will.  I’ll keep you posted.  Or you can make a call or send an email to the good folks at the network and suggest to them that they maybe want to run it again.  Use your nicest voices and ask really, really politely.  And don’t tell them you got the idea from me.

Also, I want you all who wrote to say “what happens next” to know that since you did not push me out your body the way my Mom did, I can’t tell you anything.  I mean, I told her.  I had to.  She made me show her the episode.  And I told my daughter who is usually in the next room whenever I’m watching the rough cuts of the show.  But she is only three years old and frankly could care less about the show except when George comes on screen.  When George comes on screen, my daughter puts down her Playdoh and yells, “That’s my friend!”   She just likes the way he looks and the sound of his voice and the fact that whenever she sees him in real life, he speaks to her in a very serious tone as if she were Diane Sawyer and not a three year old with her finger up her nose.  Which is a long way to say, I can’t tell you what happens next.

I can tell you there will be good music.  And that you should probably be prepared for some pretty big stuff to happen.  And that many people like this second part even better than the first part.

After next Sunday’s episode, I’ll try to write in more depth about the stories and the characters and why I did what I did in both episodes.  Right now, my hands are tied because until you see “(As We Know It)” – which is the title of next Sunday’s episode – I really can’t say much without giving things away.  And you know how I feel about that.

I read every last one of your posts.  I always do. So do the other writers.  We can’t tell you how much that feedback means to us.  We don’t really check message boards and we try not to pay attention to the press.  But we feel like you who post here are our core group, our friends and truth-tellers, so your words keep us going or make us think in new directions or inspire us when we are feeling as if no one is watching despite what the ratings say.

You guys kinda rock.

Kinda?

You just plain rock.

Aha! So you can blog between episodes. Now you have to keep it up so that we have something to hold back the withdrawal symptoms waiting for the next episode. Grey's Anatomy is like crack but the last episode was the really good stuff so it's murder coming off that high.

audrey

that's so crazy amazing that you took the time to read everyone's posts!! i simply cannot CANNOT wait for sunday!!!
it's weird, somehow i knew to set my vcr to 715 cause for some reason i thought the show started at 730.. so i had perfect timing!! i would've cried if i came home on sunday to no grey's anatomy. anyways, i'm spreading the tape love amongst my tivo friends, but hopefully the network will come through with a re-run :)
again.. cannot wait. sunday seems forever and a day away!
ps. i love george too. i wish he was my friend

Cathy

Watched it... and loved it! Even starting to *gasp* like Addison! ~~ Just not with Derek!

Great writing!

Great Great Great Episode! I can't wait til next Sunday. My husband and I watched it last night. I had taped it on DVR and I had fortunately set it up to tape all the way through til midnight. I was sitting on the edge of the couch the whole time clutching my pillow.

KLN

Thank you Shonda, you and the writers and the cast ROCK. I can't wait for next Sunday -- I'm already planning the evening!

Lynn

I can't wait!!!

Shonda,

I just want to tell you how awesome I think the show is and also how wonderful this blog is. It's nice to get some insight each week as to what the writers are thinking & why some of the plot lines have progressed the way that they have.

Last Sunday's episode has been the best one so far in my opinion, and I think it was a great idea to leave us hanging with the amazing "What have I done?" scene with Meridith. I can't wait to see "As we know it" and find out how everything is going to end up.

Kudos to you for creating such a wonderful show, one that has captured my attention and my heart unlike any other show ever has.

And thanks for taking the time to write in the writers blog to let your viewers know your thoughts and opinions on things. It's nice to know that you and the other writers really do read our comments & listen to our feedback.

Congratulations on all of Grey's success! You and the writers deserve it for creating such a great show!

Have a great day!! :)

Hi Shonda, absolutely love what you're doing with the show this season. Last week's episode left everyone in our apartment screaming at an inanimate object that only quipped back 'next on your local news...'

I work in programming for the 'fourth' network. And many were thinking that your ratings would be so-so. Boy, were they wrong. Congrats.

If you ever need a writing assistant. I'm your man! (esp for your journalism series that you're developing, i used to work for a #1 morning show too)

Anyways, I blog about your show constantly, so if you ever wanna check it out:

Again, thank you. And please tell Alex thank you as well for such amazing music!

Shonda -
Y O U R O C K!
I'm serious! You are a down to earth, real person and you write that way so other real people like me can enjoy it. I loved the shower scene - and I'm a girl. It was funny! Don't let anyone else make you second guess your sense of humor. Thanks for reading these and for creating the show. It is my all time favorite tv show ever. You are my new favorite person (other than McDreamy of course)!

Amy Lamare

No, you ROCK! This is the best show I've seen in EONS and thank you so much for bringing it into our lives! I can't wait to see what happens next week!

Crystal

Shonda, YOU ROCK TOO!!! We absolutely love you, and the show, and the cast, and well, everything about Grey's. Keep up the great work and please, please, please let Meredith and Derek be together!! You know it is meant to be! You're the best!!

This is seriously the best show I have ever seen. Actually,I have never watched any show regularly because I just can't keep up with when it is on or I forget to tape it and this show since the first episode I have not missed! I am sure to be home or I set it to record! The writing is incredible and I am amazed that there is such a great show like this out there that is unique and refreshing with some of the other crap tv that is on these days. George is an incredible actor and just makes me laugh...last week's episode made me laugh out loud with the fair hours, fair wages! And the relationships, characters and actors are just amazing! The writing is fabulous and nothing as good as this show has been on in years. I am addicted and love the show and cannot wait for next Sunday!

Molly Neal

Yeah, Shonda, I love you too! You are amazing and I don't know what I'd do Sunday nights without Grey's Anatomy. My mom thinks I'm totally obsessed with the show, and I think I am, but that's a good thing. I can watch the episodes about 5 times and still discover new things and not get bored at all. I'd say, with a little help from my other fanatic friends in Yearbook, that I've converted the entire class..even the guys who don't want to admit that they love it plus so many people who happen to hear me gush about my love for the show. I daydream ten times a day about what I would do if P. Demp(haha) walked in my awfully boring Calculus class and invited me to the filming of the show! And I fall asleep thinking about Mer/Der and how they are so perfect for each other. And I watch every award show and Red Carpet to see if any of the cast or you! is there and how good they look and think about how much I love the show! Plus, my ipod is about 85% full of songs from the show because they are just that good....I mean I absolutely IN LOVE with one each episode.."Scratch" by Kendall Payne is just amazing...not only was it the background music for one of my favorite scenes yet, but her voice is just gorgeous! I think it's so cool that you read all the posts..I love that the show is real and down to earth like that. I hope this show lasts for years and years and that there will be marriages and babies and much more in the future, but for now..I'm loving it. And I know that everyone(including me) wants Derek to see that Meredith is the one for him, but you're doing such a great job leading up to them getting back together(because we all know it WILL happen :))! Well, I adore this show and can't wait until Sunday night! You're the best!

Frank

That shower scene was...simply...amazing. As a guy who watches the show, I sometimes have to go over to a female friend's dorm to watch because it doesn't really speak to the XY carriers of the race. I tried watching it with my roommate (6ft tall, swimmer, drinks protein) and when the opening sequence comes on and "Cozy in the Rocket" plays, I cringe internally about what he'll think.
He really didn't think much of it and told me, "Whatever, dude. I heard this is a good show". I know that he doesn't care, but that opening sequence with the Sex in the City meets MDs motifs always makes me cringe when I watch it with my male friends.
But I have to say that the opening sequence of the Super Bowl did made me do something other than cringe. I tingled.
Okay, I'll stop. Enough. In the end, I don't care what people think of me watching the show. It rocks! I love Mere, Christina, Izzie, George, Bailey and all the rest! Play me the chick rock and the talk of McDreamy. I don't care. The show reaches more than females.

Thank you Shonda!

(Oh: and please never leave the show! I read on zap2it.com that you're developing a show about female journalists. Don't leave! I use to watch Alias and when JJ Abrams left the show slowly crashed and burned. We love you! Don't go!)

saki

YOU ARE MY FREAKIN' HERO.

I had to watch the last half of the superbowl AND the aftershow or whatever it was called just so i wouldn't miss a second of Grey's. It had my holding my breath, and biting my lips, and laughing my butt off, i LOOOOVE this show. thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!

i hope they do rerun it because i need to see it again!

Every Sunday I go in my bedroom,at 10 pm., lock the door. My Family knows that this my hour to watch MY SHOW.Every Sunday's episode makes me love it even more, so much that I have to come back the next week, so......Thank You for your brillance!!!!

Krys

This was an incredibly compelling episode - and I'm REALLY glad that I thought to Tivo the 10:00 news just in case the SB ran long... I didn't miss a moment of your spectacular creation, and I just wanted to cry pretty much the whole time. Yes, we're watching. Sometimes 2 and 3 times. I'll definitely watch this one a couple more times before next weekend. TOO GOOD, Shonda!!

Your biggest fan!

Shonda, you and your team rock more than words can say! Keep up the good work...I can't wait to see the episode on Sunday, I have a feeling it's going to be some kind of wonderful :-) I'll bring out the tissues and prepare for a whole lot of screaming. The music is always so awesome and inspiring! And I really can't wait for your post explaining your thoughts behind the situations...i think that is so very cool that we get to read what the writers were thinking, it gives us such good insight. THANK YOU!

Dawn

Shonda,

YOU rock! This show is really the best show on television. I love everything you guys are doing on this show. I normally read all the spoilers for the shows I watch, but I am so glad this show is spoiler-free! And that is a tough thing for me to say. I have no patience.

Love the blog guys!

Stephanie

I can't believe how amazingly cool you are-you wrote us back!!! We love your show-forget that-WORSHIP your show-and you wrote us back. WOW!!
Now I REALLY wish it was Sunday...

Dawn

Do you know how much I love the multimedia experience that I get between the show and here? I was able to go back after I read the post about the very beginning of the last episode and understand it. My epiphany moment of, "ooooh, I get it. Oh man, that's gonna be intense!" My husband didn't get it, and maybe I didn't either. ;) But I think I did, and I can't wait to see the next episode! (BTW, I scheduled my DVR to tape an hour before and two hours after the scheduled time last Sunday so I wouldn't miss it!)

O.K., I rambled... But I love being able to read this blog and get so much more from the show each week!

netnomad

Yeah Shonda you are definately cool. Earlier, I wanted to congratulate the guys who chopped up the promo that ran during the the Superbowl. I wrote on one of my blogs that the trailer thoroughly hooked me. I was at my friend's place watching the game, and saw the trailer and broke about six articles of the Highway Traffic Act, and four rules of physics to get home to see what the episode was about. My guesses as I came crashing through the door of the house were Ebola, or a biological dirty bomb, or some other craziness like that. The panic on the screamer's face said something horrible had happened. I don't know what you did to her to make her scream that loud, but it was one hell of an act. I will be GLUED to the television this Sunday to see what happens.

Candie

I LOVE THE SHOW AND YOU"RE MY FAVORITE CHARACTER BECAUSE YOU TELL IT LIKE IT IS. also, i'm sorry for all the caps. I just wanted you to understand the seriousness of my comment. hehe. =)

Jessica

I've been a fan since the beginning, and I just want to say thank you for getting me to fall even deeper in love with all the characters! It's very rare that I actually like everyone on a show.. and yes I even like Addison!! So thank you Shonda! This is my favorite show and the only one I watch faithfully!

Nichole

Ok, Shonda, I won't give you a hard time about next week's show but just know I will be watching. By the way, there was football on on Sunday? Hmm, I was waiting ALL day (all week) for the episode.

If you happen to write future episodes with Kyle Chandler, can we call him McYummy?
